Honestly, they do.
So, let's start with the basics. My name is Shealyne, but I go by Shea most of the time. It's easier to say and spell. Though, I do get a lot of "She-uh's". I'm 20 years old as of August 15th. Bye, bye teenage years. I was born and raised in the death bowl. Better known as Reno, Nevada. The summers are hot, the winters are cold, but don't be surprised if you find warm weather in the middle of December and snow in July.
I am the quiet type. I'm the type that sticks to the edges and tries to blend into walls when around people. I don't do conversations. You're lucky if you get more than three-worded responses from me. It's not that I don't have a lot to say, I just keep it all in my head. Very few people know that I am actually able to hold a conversation.
I don't show my emotions and I believe that's a result of some things that have happened in my past. I shouldn't say I don't show all my emotions because I can definitely show some very well. But, it's the difficult ones like sadness and pain that I have trouble with. I don't cry unless something has happened to one of my pets.
Which reminds me, I love animals. I adore animals. I dream of one day going back to college and then pursuing a career that lets me work around and with animals regularly. Until then, I volunteer with the local humane society and foster kittens. I also own a menagerie, though compared to some it seems like nothing. My zoo consists of a yellow lab mix named Leni; three cats named Molly Moo Cow, Kovu, and Pharah; and six rats named Templeton, Tinkerbelle, Tigerlily, Iridessa, Trinket, and Fawn.
It's obvious that I have a love for rats. Not many give these guys a chance and attribute them to their sewer dwelling cousins. But, domestic rats are far different then them. A lot of my posts will contain information, pictures, and more about these guys. Not only because I own so many, but because I also do rescue work in my area.
I don't just do volunteer work. I have a job working in a doctor's office doing various things. Mainly I stick to medical records and insurance verification, but do lots of odd little jobs here and there. It's a part-time job that I've had for nearly two years (started February 5th, 2009) and I hope to be around for as long as I can. The people I work with are great and what I do isn't overly difficult or stressful so it makes for a nice place to work.
At 20 years old I'd like to say that I live on my own and not with my parents, but such is not the case. I still live with my parents, which isn't so awful at times. I've tried to get out and move to Washington state twice, but it never worked out. So, here I stay. At least until my parents can get on their own two feet. Money is tough to come by now-a-days. But, at this rate both my younger siblings (Spencer, 17, and Shalyce, 13) will be out of the house before me.
There is so much more to me than this post. Continue reading and you will certainly find out more about me. I will talk about my past a lot, which isn't very pretty, but mostly I will write about my daily life. Oh, and expect pictures. Lots and lots of pictures.
