Long Day
Wow its been a long day man! I don't know if I told you guys about John having an abscessed tooth or not but we went and had it removed today. We were really lucky because John had to go to the hospital for the tooth at first and they referred him to a dentist about 45 minutes from where we live. Well I called them to get a price on the procedure, thinking it was going to be at least 3 or 4 hundred dollars. Turns out the office they referred us to was having a special...for any person referred to them by an ER that person only had to pay $100 flat fee which included the office visit, the x-rays, the shots and the extraction!! Anyway so we got to the office a little bit late and I was terrified that they were going to turn us away (a lot of offices around here dentist or otherwise are bad about doing that). Either way my fears were unnecessary because they acted like we weren't even late at all. The waiting room was comfortable, clean and well lit (there's something utterly terrifying about a dark waiting room at the dentists don't you think?)
After John finished filling out the paper work we only sat there for about fifteen minutes before they called him back for a quick x-ray and then we only waited another ten minutes or so before they called him into the operation room. John was so nervous poor thing that he begged me to come back with him, and course I wasn't going to turn him down when I knew he needed me so I went back with him. The nurse spoke to him for a moment about what to expect out of the procedure, had him sign a consent form and the dentist came in directly. He was very kind about John's crippling fear of needles and talked him through each injection. John ended up having five injections in all but by the second or third one the dentist had talked him into being completely calm...I was VERY impressed! Anyway after the injections he allowed them ten minutes to kick in then told John that he was just going to push around the tooth for a minute to make sure that the medicine had kicked in. He goes "can you feel that?" John answered no.."does that hurt?" again John said no.."and how about that?" John shook his head the dentist laughed and said "good because the tooth is out!" and showed John the extracted tooth...it was really cool!
With the visit completed and the the $100 duly paid we then headed to town to fill his prescriptions and do some running around that we needed to do. I stopped by the technical college to see what I could do about getting into a medical transcription certificate class. It'll cost me about $2,700 in all due to the fact that I owe a college loan from a long time ago. I then got John signed up for GED classes, hopefully work will allow him to make the classes...he desperately needs his GED! We then went to my grandmothers work because she helped us pay for John's prescriptions, get gas and something to eat. My OBGYN is only a few seconds from her work so we swung by there next to get a letter confirming to the dentist that its safe to do work on my teeth since I'm pregnant (I made an appointment for myself with the same dentist that did John's tooth today). We then went and got something to eat at Taco Bell, picked up John's prescriptions and headed home.
As always as soon as we got in the door I checked the phone to see if we'd missed any calls and to return them. Well a friend of ours had called wanting us to come pick up our Christmas gift from him (money) so I headed BACK out and picked that up....so needless to say I've only been home for about an hour! We headed out at 9 am this morning, it is now 5 pm!! All in all however it has been a very good day so far. I can only hope that tomorrow and Christmas day are as good as today has been. Unfortunately all the money we got for Christmas and so forth had to go in the gas tank and towards bills so we weren't able to get anything for each other or even for Isabel for Christmas...but we'll make the most of it. John still gets his paycheck tomorrow and we have a Christmas eve party to go to tomorrow so maybe we'll get enough money then to at least buy something for our little girl! If not she'll still have the gifts from her other family members but it breaks my heart that we are so broke as to not be able to give her something specifically from us!!! But we have to be thankful that we have each other, that is always a gift worth having!
Well I guess thats enough updating for the time being, I don't know if I'll be able to get back on until after the holidays or not. If not however then I wish everyone an extremely Merry Christmas, a wonderful and safe New Year and want to hear any stories relating to both!! Thank you to those who have been such wonderful and understanding friends to me on here over the past few months, you too have been gifts that I could never replace! Until next time I'm outtie, Caio and Blessed Be!
