Roaring Waters

Just stealing a few minutes on MIL's computer while hubby runs her to the post office.

Went on Saturday to visit Aaron up in Presque Isle. I think that the time away from each other has done our relationship some good. I could step back and navigate the waters of our relationship, because I wasn't in the middle of the water, so to speak. He's doing well. His little apartment is looking quite homey - his supposed roommate never showed up, so he has a double room to himself. Which is probably a good thing, as his shit is spread from one end of that room to the other.

We took him over to Mardens and bought him some plates (because his one roommate burnt a whole in the plastic ones that his grandmother had given him). He also got a spatula and a big serving spoon. He wanted a big frying pan, but he wasn't willing to pay $20 for the one that he liked. I'll get him one some time soon.

He showed me the books that he has for his classes - technical crap that I don't understand one whit of - those books were $100 each! Holy shit.

We took him out to dinner at KFC. It was nice to have the whole family together again. The only admonishment that I gave Aaron was when he swore (he used the "f" word) and I told him that he needed to watch his language. He rolled his eyes at me. I told him that he may be almost 18 and living out on his own, but I am still his mother and he needs to respect the fact that I don't want to hear those words out of my teenage son.

It was a really good visit. It took us 4 hours to drive up there, and 4 hours to drive back - didn't leave a whole lot of time to visit, but we got a lot into the few hours that we did have.

So, anyway, that was my Saturday in a nut shell.

Kevin is on vacation for the next 2 weeks, and he has a lot of things that he wants to get done outside of the house, so we have slowly been working on that list.

Well, I'm out.....
