12 things I found out that make a successful relationship

01/22/2014

After writing my last entry I started realizing how much I have grown since I started dating. Through breakups and hardships, I have truly learned the "basics" to a successful relationship. I have learned these all through experience and had I not gone through those terrible heartbreaks, I may have never learned what I have. Here is what I have learned:

1) Make the guy want you! Even after you start dating, still make him chase you, You can do this by putting a little space between you and him, and I don't mean physically, but make him text you first, don't answer texts right away, let him know that you are still someone to be chased.

2) Control your jealousy. Yes it's okay to get jealous, but try to keep it to yourself, especially if it's not that big of a deal. So what if he thinks the waitress is hot, he's going home with you! Compliment the girl with him, it will give you guys something to talk about

3) Let him have his guy time. You need to make sure his friends like you too. If his friends don't like you, then most likely, it won't work out. The best way to a boyfriends friends heart, is to let them all still hang out. Besides, while he's with his friends, you can have girl time

4) Don't hang out every single day! Give him time to miss you. Things will become to ordinary and seeing each other isn't that big of a deal anymore. You don't want to lose the butterflies too quick.

5) Make sure the sex is AMAZING! Don't be afraid to try new things, show him you're enjoying it, make him want more. Be open and willing to stuff, but only if you're comfortable!

6) Tell your friends good things about him, don't just complain about him all the time. If you do that then your friends are going to think he's such a bad guy and convince you that he's a terrible boyfriend.

7) Understand that he has flaws, just like you do. Have patience, learn how to cope with things that bug you. Learn to understand that this is the way he is, I either have to deal with it, or move on. If you're into him, I'd definitely say to lose them as thoughts of flaws, but thoughts of how unique it makes him.

8) Make sure your parents like him and his parents like you. The last thing you want is family against the person you are with. Be kind to his parents and make sure he is kind to yours. Any boyfriend who treats your family like shit, then you need to dump his ass right now. Like I said about telling your friends good things about him instead of bad, same goes for family. They want to know you're getting treated fairly. Chances are, even if your parents aren't fans of your boyfriend, but they know he treats you right, things just end up working themselves out.

9) Go out together. Not just out to eat, but go to a bar, have a few laughs and a few beers, even if it means dragging his friends along. There's nothing wrong with hanging out at a bar with a few friends, but it's even better that you get to enjoy some fun time together.

10) Don't be afraid to tell him how you feel about anything. If something pissed you off, TELL HIM! You want to fix the problems, not hold them inside until they become bigger problems. If you think you're getting mad over something stupid, rethink to yourself "would I be upset if he was mad at me about this?"

11) Look at both sides. Don't just think about how you're feeling in a situation, but also realize how he may feel. It will help you the right way to approach a situation. It will help you understand how you SHOULD be feeling. If you would be upset about something you are doing, don't do it. Chances are he'll feel the same way.

12) Last but DEFINITELY not least. TRUST YOUR MAN!!! Without this, you might as well end the relationship now. If he has done nothing to you to make you think you can't trust him, then you need to trust him dammit! If you do not trust, it will make you insecure. The last thing a guy wants is an insecure girl. Trust your man. Know he wants you and no one else. If he does something to betray your trust, DUMP HIS ASS NOW! Because all it's going to be now is insecurities and fights. Trust him, love him.

These ten things have gotten me this far through my current relationship with my boyfriend. Although we have only been together for a month, I have taken these 12 things that I have gotten from past experiences and they have done nothing but give me such a successful relationship so far. Learn from your mistakes. Let yourself grow. You may surprise yourself on how smart you really are. Successful relationships happen, start with these and you will be well on your way.

Im sorry I just had to add a comment to this entry; and all I can say is I love it and it speaks the truth, im glad someone sees this the way I do. One problem I have is controlling my jealously it is very hard for me I have always been jealous and everything else and after a year with my boyfriend I still get jealous and I had realized that my jealously started pushing him away from me I was scared so I have to pretend like nothing is wrong and also pretend im okay with it. But one thing I have to ask how could you trust your man if he has lied to you constantly? Wouldn't you make him earn your trust back? Because that's what my fiancé does he constantly lies about stupid shit but I just overall hate liars; I just sometimes I really don't know what I should do.
