Getting back into the swing of things

10/12/2020

So with the baby being a little over a month old now, we're finally getting into the swing of things, and getting more of a routine down pat. There is a bit of a snag, though. Part of the issue is that if I wake up at night, I just can not get back to sleep, no matter how tired I am. I have no idea how to even address this. I will just lay there in the dark, with my eyes open, trying to get to sleep and failing. This is problematic if I need to get up and take care of the baby if he wakes up in the middle of the night. Which babies tend to do, lol.

Thankfully, we have childcare on Mondays, Wednesday, and Fridays, and most weekends, which frees up a lot of time for Bianca and I to work from home. Her mom has graciously agreed to take on that task, as she doesn't work. I don't mind the hour drive there and back because I love driving around, so this "commute" to and from my home twice a day really doesn't bother me.

I go back to work on October 26th, and I'm looking forward to it. I'd have taken about half of my paternity leave, and I think I'm going to take the other half in a few months, whenever I feel I need a break from work, but I'm not sure that I will unless we make any substantial changes to our routine in the coming few months. We're keeping an eye out on whether or not the city decides to tear down and develop the golf course that wraps around my HOA community. The moment they okay that decision, we're going to sell the house, and I'll likely take the other half of my paternity leave. That should be fun.

I would be updating more if I had anything substantial to write about. I've been working from home, and things around here aren't exciting enough to update everyone about.
