I have probably the best job I've ever had. This is a dream job. We support 99% of the Fortune 100, and 80-something % of the rest of the Fortune list. I make over triple what I was making at my last job, in the field that I want to be in.
But with everything that's happened, with all the money I'm making to make several, much needed upgrades to my life, I don't know if I'm grateful enough to accept the boredom that comes with sitting around for hours waiting for people to support. On paper, it sounds like a dream to sit around and get paid lots and lots of money to surf the internet all day, but... that's not what I wanted to do. I genuinely love this field, and I want to be neck deep in computer parts and ethernet cables. I want to be working on several projects, and even moreso, I want to be able to prove on paper, with statistics, that I bring in revenue AND save money for the company. Or else I don't feel like I will justify the sick paycheck I get.
I'm out of here in about an hour, and my guess is, it'll be the longest hour in history. |
