So Charlie is exactly 8 weeks old as of yesterday. He's hit his second neurological milestone. Which sounds great if I were to leave it at that, but what it means in a practical sense is that he's becoming a lot more aware of things, and starting to react to things with emotions. He's a lot more confused, and a lot more reactive to his surroundings. Of course, this can mean the occasional cute moments where he smiles at you for no reason, maybe because he likes your face, but what it means most of the time is that he just seems very uncomfortable for reasons I can't figure out, and he cries. He's easily distracted by the TV or any other bright, moving light that happens to be in his line of sight, and he likes being spoken directly to.
He also seems to be in a bit of pain typically before he poops. We changed his formula to the "gentle-ease" kind, which helped a lot when he was having absolute hellfire meltdowns before poops on the first formula he was on, but it's getting to the point where it's obvious that he's still struggling to poop. He gets a bit grumpy, starts to wiggle a lot, and seems generally uncomfortable, until he poops, and then he basically goes to sleep.
There is one thing he does that's a bit concerning though.
Sometimes... on occasion... for just a brief moment, maybe 5-10 seconds, his arms and body will go stiff, and his face turns red. And he makes this hard grunting noise, almost as if he's lifting weights or something. And then he starts crying. I don't know what this is, but it spooks me out a bit. Does anyone know what I'm talking about here? |
