What has Bloop meant to you? Have you met anyone from here? Has Bloop helped you get through your dark times and has it inspired you?
I wouldn't say it's "helped me get through my dark times," or anything like that. I was on here quite a bit while I was in high school, probably every single day, but despite how much of a part of my life that it actually was, it didn't have much of an impact on other parts of my life at the time. But I do have warm feelings, looking back at the amount of time I spent here, interacting with people on my diary, the forums, and the chat. I'm just really worried/concerned that the 2020 era of the Internet doesn't have any place for a site like Bloop Diary, when blogging has evolved to integrate with social media as much as possible, to the point of almost being another form of social media. Thinking like Tumblr, or microblogging like Twiter (to an extent). In the heyday before social media, you were looking for people to read, and looking forward to interacting with strangers, but with the overabundance of information about others, it's almost like I'm struggling to find the personal lives of anonymous strangers sort of mundane, and difficult to read, especially if I haven't interacted with you much in the past. This isn't a criticism toward Bloop at all, but more of a criticism of the internet that's evolved around it. The only concern that I have for Bloop is that it might be a nostalgia project, rather than an ambitious attempt to get it back up off the ground. But we'll definitely see what happens. I'll be here to see it through, and should it come to it, I'll be at its side when it breathes its final breath.
