#3 candle, basketball game, I won, CPR

12/03/2010

Today I had my CPR anual recertification
I passed with only getting one wrong on the written exam out of 20 and completing the dummy test.

Tonight was the 3rd night of Chanukah
I got a box to put my sporting tickets in and another year of "red sox nation membership"
Included in a membership is a pair of redsox tickets, 10% off at the red sox store, a red sox hat and bumper stickers and a lot more things that I never took advantage of but may one of these years.

Justin, Lindsay and myself went to the basketball game tonight. It was the Boston Celtics vs the Chicago Bulls. I purposely bought these tickets for a couple of reasons. First, Justin and Lindsay both have lots of friends from Chicago so they adopted it as their second sport's city. Secondly, they have some great young players and we have had some "blood, sweat and teers" battles with them the last couple of years. They're head coach, who the last few years use to be an assistant coach for boston, plus he graduated and coached the same college I graduated from. Lastly they have an Red head white as casper Irish player who although isnt a good player, he was drafted and played with us up untill this year and was the team's biggest cheerleader.

The game was awesome!
At the end of the first quarter we were up 31-19. They battled back to be down by only 2 at half time but when the final whistle was blown, the boston celtics won, 104-92.
Our power forward, Kevin Garnet, had a super star typenight. I dont have the numbers in front of me but he had like 20 points, 18 rebounds and 6 assist.

*************************

So for the last I dont know how many years, more than 10, I have been playing in this "suicide football league" which a friend of mine from my temple runs. The way it works is, you pick a team a week. If your team wins, you get to move on to the next week, if your team loses, you are out of the league. The catch is, once you use a team, you cant use them again. I played two hands. One of my hands I lost the first week so I was out with that hand. Good thing I play two every year.

Well, this year we had 31 players put in 30 dollars each for a total of 930 in the pot.
2 weeks ago, there was 3 teams left and I was one of them. My friend said that people sometimes split when it ggets down to about 3 people and he said that he was not suggesting I do or dont, he just wanted to let me know that it is an option that I could ask the others to split. I felt confident in my pick that week so I told him if I won that week, I'd like to split. However, all 3 of us won that week. I told him I wanted to split. He asked the other two people, one wanted to split but the 3rd person didnt want to so I had to pick one more team. After a white nuckle last play of the game victory, I again said I wanted to split.

Well, when I came home from the game tonight and checked my email, I got one from my buddy saying that I would be splitting the pot with two others and so we each get 310 dollars. It is a ( my mind went blank on the word, you dont have to do something but it would be nice if you do ... ) so I told him to take 25 dollars for each himself and his parter who run the league and I will be happy to take $260

So I won $260 in cold hard cash which I can put towards Red Sox Tickets I will be buying next Saturday.

I'm a tired but contented person right now.

OH! P.S.

I am making a list of every Bon Jovi song I have.
I am up to 348 and not even close to being done.
I have up to 5 different versions of various songs including: live, live acoustic, acoustic, demo, origenal, "this left feels right" version and even remakes

჻ೋ჻ I honestly don't think the dolls are not made well enough to sell them, but if I do get better at it that's a wonderful idea! And they were so cheap it wouldn't cost me a ton to invest. I got 4 sheets of different colored and designed felt for less than $1. I honestly do love crafts and creating stuff. I'm a creative person by nature but I let my life get in the way of that and I have truly missed it. Last night I stayed up super late getting info on what children in kindergarten need to know by the time they finish, and I created lessons plans for this month. So now I can begin schooling her more and on a variety of things, which is something she's asked me for a lot. She wants to learn and I have the ability to teach her, and to make it fun. I need to let the joy in that be what I focus on rather then the ups and downs in life :o) ჻ೋ჻
