Yesterday (Monday) Karen told me she sent a package in the mail and I should get it in the next few days as she sent it on Friday.
I went shopping again today with my mom and finished up my holiday shopping except for a card for Karen. I havent found the right one yet. I also got a hair cut while I was in the mall and I needed one. I got home and my mom checked the mail box and said "there is a card from Karen here" I opened it. I figured it was a Chanukah card since Chanukah starts this Saturday night. After the first two lines, I said to my mom "I dont think the braille is what the card says" my mom looked over my shoulder and said there is no print. It's just a note card.
Here is word for word, line, by, line of what Karen wrote. Because Braille takes up more room than print, you can only write a word or a few on a card.
Dear Jonathan
Thank you for
My birthday
Present. I
Love it! I am
Learning a lot.
Thank you!
I love you
Love,
Karen
I sent an fb response that I think is a bit heart-dopy but since this is my diary, I'll show myself
*hugs you from behind* sometimes I wonder...and then I get a beautiful "thank you" card in the mail that was completely written in Braille. It melts my heart and reminds me how much you care about me and love me.
I am extremely impressed and in awe over the time and effort you must have put into studying Braille and practicing it and continue to want to learn more.
It was exactly a month ago from today when I introduced you to the slate and stylus. In the last two weeks and a half you have learned not only the alphabet but you have also learned and perfected punctuations.
It is moments like these, it is the little things you do, along with your angelic voice, your giggle, grins hugs and your "I love you"'s that makes me smile, grin and want to be with you. Not just tonight, but every night.
Thank you for the Braille card you know I'll be keeping it
I love you for evah and evah and evah
Love Jonathan
