an insident at work

12/23/2009

We had an insident at work yesterday that couldhave eskalated to be much worse.

The short of it, a white skin client called my black skin coworker the N word.

My coworker went off. I was sitting at the dining room table with other clients as they were eating their dinner. I got up, strolled over to my coworker,
put my hand on his shoulder. (its funny how  without trying to figure out where his shoulder was I was able to put my hand right on his shoulder) and without
yelling or screaming or pushing him, I  just said "sol, stop, sol stop, sol sop" Eventually he stopped yelling. I turned to my client, said "are you ok?"
he said yes so I asked him to go to his room. he just said ok. and then my coworker was back to his happy go lucky self. However, I had to convince another
client that Sol was not going to hurt anyone and that he was safe.

It could have been much worse. I didnt know if they both had fists up ready to duke it out or not. I had no idea how far away the client was from the counselor
until I asked him if he was ok. Only then did I hear his voice to realize how far away he was. And he was about 7 feet away.

so, that was my fun for the week.

Christmas Eve's, I'm going over  (hmm let's try to figure this one out) my cousin Brandon's x wife Josephine,  brother's house. I am good friends with their sister
Milan. I had been invited the last few years to various holiday selebrations with their family.

Christmas day, I'm going over my best friend's in laws place. I got my nephew the building block things. The legos for 1-3 year olds?

I got my best friend a humidor that comes with 8 cigars. (he'll love it. he'll think I spent a fortune on him but I got an awesome deal.) and his wife,
I got her a bath-body works  set. I'm sure she'll love it. Plus it is something that John wont use. If I get her a  gift card for some place, he'll end
up using it.

My twin brother Justin Lindsay and lindsay's parents are taking a vacation to cali for 5 nights.  They're going to SF and LA. I think they are leaving on the 27? and returning
Jan 2nd early in the morning.

I wish everyone a very merry Christmas, in good health and happiness

Oh wow, way to cool the situation down!
Today I found out that my next door neighbor is dating a guy who is in charge of the department of social services in Hyannis and has been for about 38 years. She's from the Boston area and has a house in the cape too! She's awesome and has a great Boston accent and is gonna help me find apartments in Boston.

I have a question and I by no means want to offend you, but how are you able to blog and read others diaries on here? Do you have a program that tells you what's been written?

p.s I think I'd flip my lid if someone called me the forbidden N word. I usually get spic, though, so they don't see the african american part of my ethnicity.

Great job on handling that situation at work! Definitely not a good place to be having something like that happen! It's bad enough as it is!!

Have fun with Christmas Eve, and Christmas, even though you don't celebrate it!
