At the lake all by myself thinking of you
The sun is shining, the grass is green and the water is blue
I came here in search of peace and quiet
With my pen and paper, I’m laying on our blanket
It’s so lonely here without you by my side
I wish I was by your side
Holding your hand, hoping for just one smile
Mmm your giggle, your laugh, your number I just want to dial
The birds are singing a beautiful song
Without you here in my arms, it feels so wrong

When you open your eyes today
Everything will be a little groggy, hazy, a little gray
I may be so far away
But know that you were on my mind, every moment of this day
I know you will be fine
All these little animals give me a sign
They all creep to the edge of our blanket
With hope in their eyes, they don’t fret
They wonder where you are
I tell them you are not too far
You are asleep, dreaming of the stars
I tell them you will be back here with me soon
We will cuddle up, in our cocoon
Here at our lake
Where nothing is wrong, there is no aches
Hmm we’ll have to bring Moagie here sometime, she’ll think it’s great
She can run around, our imagination is her only gate
She can lay with us
Moagie wont fuss
In our secret place
I will hold you close, I will kiss your beautiful face
I will make you laugh, I will make you sigh
You can relax, you can be high
I wish I was there
To tell you how much I care
To brush away your hair
But I am not there
And you are not here
Untill that day comes
I know you are being taken good care of by your mom
From all the little animals at the lake
Who eagerly wait till you awake
From me laying here, thinking of you
