day 1 of 2010 playoffs, lots happening in new england sports

10/07/2010

If you are not a sports fan and you have not read my last entry, you'll want to read that one, this is just sports.

Baseball playoffs
the rangers with cliff lee beat the rays with david Price in game 1: 5-1
The rangers went out under unsure finances and traded for Cliff lee and he showed why.

Phillies with Roy (Doc) Holiday beat the reds and vulquez
The Phils traded the rookie of the year from last season and other top prospects to aquire Haliday from the blue jays last off season in a 3 team trade and gave him a 3 year extention. He only went out and pitched the second no hitter in playoff history and the second no hitter he pitched this season. He was just one walk away from being perfect.

Yankees with CC beat the twins and francisco Lariano
The first 5 or so innings it was all twins but when Lariano started falling apart, it went quickly and Teixeira belted a 7th inning home run to put them ahead and revira got a 4 out save to win the game

OTHER SPORT'S NEWS

The boston red sox's owners are very close to purchasing the historic english soccer team from liverpool. A team with a rich history and stadium needs a kick start and the redsox's owners plan on doing just that exactly as they did for the redsox. referbishing the existing stadium, putting some money into the team and building around the stadium.

Randy moss, the very talented but character problem player was traded from the New England Patriots back to the team who origenally drafted him 12 years ago. Min Vicans.
Thank you for all you have done. We appreciate it.

Rocko Baldelli: was the starting dh for the TB rays tonight. Why is this so note worthly?
He has a dissease which zaps him of his physical strength and makes it very hard to keep his energy up, never mind playing at a major league level. This year in spring training he was a coach for a minor league team of the TB rays. He still wanted to play and played some minor league games. With only 24 at bats this year in the majors, he found himself the starting DH on the team that he first came up with.
He's also from the town over from where my sis in law is from in RI.

Yep, no big deal for Doc. No hitter in his first post season appearance?? Pshhh, please he never even broke a sweat, lol. I hate to cheer for Phillie but there was no way I wanted the Reds to break up Roy's no hitter. He's an amazing pitcher. I was surprised at how the Rangers beat up Price, that was very unexpected. The Yanks and Twins game was the only game that wasn't one sided. I'm excited about Randy Moss! The Vikings are my third fave NFL team.

That Rocko guy...wow! That's really awesome that despite what he's going through he's still working hard in the major leagues! Inspiring!
