Debby Gibson and Tiffany a contert through the 80's

08/08/2011

Background...
I was 10 years old in 1988. I got my first cassette single. It was Debby Gibson's "out of the blue"
For my 10th b day, I got the full casette "tiffany". She is most known for redoing old songs like "I think I am alone now" and "I saw him standing there"

I have seen-met Debby a few times, I have the story somewhere in here. She even kissed me once...on my cheek.

However, I never seen Tifany and not even sure if she's been around here before.

My mom told me a few weeks ago that they were coming and would be playing together. i was excited at first then I thought... I wouldnt be able to find anyone to go with so I sorta dropped it. My mom asked me a few days ago if I wanted to go, she said she'd go with me.

Yesterday I went on youtube and listened to "could have been" my favorite song by Tifany and that made up my mind.

My mom and I headed to the theater where the concert was being held.
We parked, went in and went to the box office. I bought 3rd row. The place was sadly not even half full. I sat at the end of the row, next to the ramp where they came in-out from. So there was only a 3 foot wall that would separate me from them.

Over the speakers, it was like someone was changing the radeo with the static separated by Tifany and Debby's songs and comercials from the 80's.

They then ran up the ramp together onto the stage and sang a song from the 80's together.
Debby said that they were on the phone, trying to figure out how to make it a fun tour. Tiffany said "let's just go all out and go back to the 80's" "so we are going to sing songs from the 80's including some of our own favorite songs from the 80's)
Tifany said "this is the part of the show where I kick Debby off the stage"
Debby runs back to the dressing room and Tiffany starts her show.

Tiffany tells a story about how she got to where she is now in music.
She started in country music as a young teen but nothing was getting picked up. A producer came to her and turned her into a pop star. She said that she loved it including all the tours but she wants to go back to country now. So she is on tour now to promote her country albumb.

She sang"could have been" (my fav of hers. so beautiful) and "let's bring it back to what got my career going" "I think we're alone now) She also did some songs from other 80's band, including an awesome version of GNR's "sweet child O' mine" She said that her fav singer is Stevy mix? (I dont know who that is) and sang a Stevie Mix song. She then did a country version of "saw him standing there" (origenally I saw her standing there) and one more song I knew that she did country style. She finished her part up by doing some songs off her new country albumb ""Feel The Music" "he's all man"and One I liked (minus the country music) "He Won't Miss Me"

Then it was Debby's turn

She came out, sang a few of her songs (dont recall the order) "only in my dreams" "shake your love" "out of the blue" and one that has her in the Guinness book for the youngest to write, produce and perform a #1 song with "foolish beat".

She then did a Medley of about 10 80's songs, starting with "billie jean" and "like a virgin" and throwing in "you got the right stuff" (loud cheers from the boston faithful) and a song that had me flashing back to my last day of 8th grade "I'll never get over you, getting over me" It was amazing.

She then told a story of before she got into pop, she wanted to proform on Broadway. She was lucky enough to make that dream come true for her. She went back stage and the director of the place took the mic and gave a summary of a play (sorry I dont know plays) and then Debby came out in one of her "costumes" and sang a few songs from the play "chicago" and "gypsy" (according to my mom)
She talked about sponsering a child. She and her story of how it came about. It started when she was 17. She said "I know that it looks funny on the comercials but when you really go to these people, and you see they dont have drinking water or you see a 2 year old looking through garbage for some food, it is not funny at all. it is very sad. I got the opritunity to visit and it was sad. I have sponsered a total of 22 children and it is lovely to get pics and get letters from them to see how much a few dollars really does make. (and went on to talk about how to sponser a child)

A female band member sang a song while Debby ran back and changed again.
She came out, talked about how she always thought the stage as her living room and now formfortable she is. She said that she had tweeted on her way from NY to BOS that she wanted ideas to sing from the 80's. She said that she had her niece back stage before the consert finding lyrics and printing them out. She had no idea how they would come out. So she started singing a song from the 80's and she stopped abruptly then said that she heard the song in stereo but didnt know where it was coming from. She thought it was awesome that the croud was singing along and said "ok, let's start from the beginning again" It was really funny, even her band members were laughing (my mom said) she was reading from a bunch of papers, singing, and stop and said "I think I skipped a page, oh I did, ok here we go" and start back up again or say "I dont like that song next page" She was great. I said to my mom that it was like Kareoki.

Tiffany came back out, did some 80's song about living life. A lot of people were singing along, I didnt know it. It must have been from the early 80's.
And that was the end of the show.

I left out a lot of the stories and "mistakes" they made like When Tif came out the second time, inbetween doing her pop stuff and her country stuff she said that "When you put on a show, sometimes everything goes right. Other times, they dont. I was back stage and I could not get my big cowboy boots, on these sweaty feet" lol and things like that.

So after the show my mom asked if I wanted to try to see them.
We walked around the outside of the building twice before we figured out the correct door they'd be coming out from. There was a little croud of about 15 people.

(this is getting a bit long lol)
Tifany came out first. She gave me a hug, took a pic with me, gave me another hug. I was all smiles.
Debby, I asked her if she remembers me, I told her a few times that I met her she said that she was sorry but she is blond and it is late, I would need to give her more details. I took a pic and she gave me a quick hug and moved on. I was pretty happy.

If anyone wants to see the pics, I can email them, I dont know how to upload to here or to fb.

I then went home and watched the entire red sox yankee game that I had my parents record for me
It was over a 4 hour game, ending with it being tied in the 10th and with a man on 2nd and first, our rookie, Josh Reddic hitting a single knocking it the winning run and I screams "yes!"pumping my fist in the air... then realizing that it is 3:15 A.M. I laughed to myself.

The Boston Red Sox are back in first place by themselves! yay!

I gotta say, it was a good night

That sounds like a fun time. I was listening to New Kids the other day. They were my first concert and I never get tired of their music. I think she's talking about Stevie Nix who is a singer in a band called Fleetwood Mac. They were real big back in the 70s I think. Folky type music.
