Sunday early afternoon my two brothers and I went to the rehab where my grand parents are. My grand father is 91 and my grand mother is 90. I dont know any couples in their 90's. My nanna is doing well. She had a broken hip but she is still watching sports and we talked about the Patriots and Celtics. (I love my nanna) She knows she was stupid by not listening to the doctors and my parents when they said she needs to use a cain. She said she will use one now. My grand father, it is sad when you see someone you love who's mind starts to go. We are being optamistic, he totally lost his mind a few years ago but he got it back. We got a Chanukah card for them. They got cards for us. (with a nice chanukah gelt in them) They were so happy to see us. I was happy to be there.
Sunday afternoon we had our anual family Chanukah party.
We had about 30 people over. My mom made so much food. She was cooking for a few days and buying gifts for everyone. There was Sweedish meatballs, baby pigs in blankets, (hotdog) pizzas, kannishes, Lutkis, and so much more. My bros and I were down stairs watching the patriots and the kids were playing twister and they stayed quiet. The candle time is amazing. 30 something people with the youngest in the front row lighting candles and leading the blessings. Then everyone exchanging gifts. My aunt got me $25 gift card and my older bro got me a redsox glass. The chanukah man got me a book to put tickets in. It's nice.
We had our second anual Redsox Swap. (yankee is a dirty word in this family) It was so fun. So everyone brings a gift and they are on the table. everyone takes a number and you pick something from the table. After you pick, you can swap with anyone who picked infront of you no questions asked. (but a lot of laughter) My cousin Ellen brought a gift card to my fav restaurant and she knows it is my favorite. She goes "pick that one" and so I picked it and there was two things in the gift bag. The first was the gift card to the chinese restaurant and the second thing was my cousin makes this amazing squash. When we use to go over her place for thanksgiving, I would be licking the squash bowl. Everyone loves it. So in the gift bag was a container of her squash. Now, I was very happy with the gift. However, my best friend, who had a number a few higher than me, took it from me. My cousin goes "you cant take it from him" he goes "yes I can, besides, I would be taking him anyways." He had scratch tickets. I only won five bucks though.
4th night
Monday I got an email from redsox.com saying I got a subscription to redsoxnation. (a redsox fan club) I had to fill out my name and address and stuff like that. So when my mom goes to give me a gift, I said, I already have a gift from the Chanukah man. it came via email. She asked what it was. She knew that she had it set to me for a day of the week but didnt know which it was. So yay! I am a 4 year, card carying member of redsox nation.
5th night
I needed a new battery for my computer. I was only getting 20 mins at a time. So I got a new battery for my computer. I can now run 4 hours without having to be plugged in.
6th night.
When I was growing up, I collected these toy sports figures called "starting line ups" I have over 200 of them in my room on shelves. A few years ago, Todd McFarlane, a comic book writer-drawer, came out with his own line of sports figures that are more life-like with details down to the bran of sneekers they wear. So I started getting them for gifts but only my favorite players. I would not get everyone or just anyone.
So I got a gift bag and when I reached in, I knew it was one of these mcfarlane figures, but didnt know who it could be. My mom said that she went in my room and didnt see this one so she bought it. From the " coorperstown collection" It was nNolan Ryan with a bloody lip and blood on his shirt. It is from a very famous fight he had when he had hit Robin Vantura and Vantura charged the mound. I have an autograph photo of this in my room and now I have a toy figure to go with it.
I'm happy with the Chanukah man this year.
two more nights. woo
Work, work is going well. I am going to email the secritary and inform her that I will do the training to be a trainer. It is money and looks great on a resume.
Thursday we have a peer specialist coming to the house I work at. This position is one that is new in the counseling field and is pretty interesting. This would be a person with a mental illness who is stable, works part time, and is independant. This position is trained and is basicly a representative who talks to others who have mental illnesses on various topics. Well she is coming to introduced herself to the house I work at. I think she actually may be a client I had at the day rehab program last year. So she has come a long way.
Take care and have a good day.
