great things happening around me Plus work stuff

01/10/2014

My NJ cousin Hayley had a baby today. His name is Leo Michael, named for her parents who her mom passed when Hayley was I think in her grad school years and her father passed when she was in her late 20?
Leo is 5 LB 5 ounces. I don't know time, It was not in the text sent to my mom.
so...yay I got a baby cousin

My twin brother, who is an architect... got a new job.
He has been working for his wife's uncle.
The money is better, the benefits are better. The only things that suck is they have to give up-buy a new car and the location. He use to work in RI where her parents live and they would watch the baby on Monday ad Tuesdays but now they will have to come baby at their house.

As for me, nothing exciting.
I went to a health and wellness committee meetig yesterday. It was boring. They just revered the activities-groups the "people served" can attend. (which was in an attachment of the email I got) and they discussed changing the company where we get our bulk order of food from. Something that was mentioned but is quietly not so secretive, our company is going to do this 6 week food menu for all the houses and just rotate it through. I talked to my supervisors (who knew about it from a different meeting he attended) (like I said, not so secretive)
1. it takes away from the independants of our people surved.
Every week they have to sit down at our house meeting and tell us what they want to make.
2. It takes away from the creativity.
Every week they come up with interesting or not so interesting, meals but it is still their creativity.
(there was a third reason I told my supervisor, but don't remember)

He agreed with me too. He thought it was a bad idea.
He asked me, when the day comes though, will I be able to tell the clients in a positive way?
I said yes, I will take my personal views out and tell them.
He said, that that's good cause he doesn't think he would be able to.
I said, well, if we can rotate the residents as far as the days they are cooking, over 42 time, they will learn how to make 42 different meals.
Supervisor said, there you go, you are already putting a positive spin on it.

I was unsure how long the health-wellness meeting would take yesterday so I scheduled my ride to take me to the training center, where the meeting was being held and have them pick me up from my work location with a coworker of mine driving me over. It was nice to chat with him. He's the morning guy so I hardly see him. However, I was shocked and disappointed in things he told me about.

ME: Just wondering, do you ever read my emails?
him: nah, I never read any emails.
(fast forward to after the house meeting, when I was sitting at the dining room table alone with the coworker I work with)
ME: I was talking with AP and he told me that he doesn't read any emails
AA: Don't get me started, he doesn't read any. He doesn't read the Com log, the (another log) or emails. He doesn't do anything. I'm so frustrated with him. I don't want to talk about it.
ME: that makes me even more frustrated to hear that. I don't want to talk about it either. (I gave her an understanding smiled after that)

Another thing at work on Thursday...
ME: I don't want to keep bugging you but we really need a staff meeting.
AR: (supervisor) You're not bugging me. I agree. Let's pick a date right now. AA can you come in here?
AR: What about Thursday?
AA: we cant. X has a training and we try to do it on a day where the residents aren't home. Monday would be the best.
AR: hmm good point. I cant do this Monday but I can do next Monday, the 20th. Jonathan, does that work for you?

(I hesitated for a long second...)
ME: ya, that's fine.
AR: are you sure?
ME: ya, that's fine. what time?
AR: we'll schedule it for 1 to 3.
Me: that works for me.
AA: me too.

(fast forward back to after the house meeting with me and AA alone at the table)
ME: you know why I hesitated about the 20th, right?
AA: hmmm?
ME: it's the anniversary.
AA: (in a sad tone) I know but it cant hold us back.
(I started thinking about how we will be there around the time...)
Me: I guess the good thing is that we'll be here together so if we need, we can talk.
AA: ya, that's true.

Unfortunately, my supervisor has NO CLUE about the date or anything. He knows about what happened and all that but doesn't have the emotional attachment.and unfortunately, there are only 3 left from the staff who worked there then.

Sucks he's being so insensitive about everything. I guess when you're on the outside coming in it doesn't really occur to people when they didn't experience it. I definitely think it's crappy he doesn't keep up with correspondence too. But congrats on your new baby cousin!
