happy mother's day + hello texas

05/12/2013

Hello and happy mother's day to all my amazing friends who are mothers.
You are all amazing and dont realize how amazing you are.

We went out for brunch to a restaurant that my mom wasnt so thrilled about but it was my sis in law's first mother's day so my twin picked the place and made reservations.

It is this really cool restaurant called fire and ice. Picture an area of about 15 by 10. There is a grill that is a few feet wide and goes along the pariminta of this area. In side are where the sheffs are. Then there are stations set up, picture a bunch of salad bars. One is veggies, one is pastas. one is potatos and rices. one is meats, chicken, fish, various toppings and a sauce station that has about 20 different ones from like maranara sauce to a teryachi sauce etc. You pick what you want and as much you want and you pick sauce or sauces, you can mix them, and then you bring them up to the grill and they cook it right in front of you.

On sundays, they have brunches, so they also make pancakes and eggs homefries, sausages and bacon, etc.

So it was my parens, my 3 sibs and I, my twin's wife and her parents and my sis's fiancee. ... oh and my nephew Devin. The food was really good as always.

The reason my mom didnt like this was cause very rarely will everyone sitting down at the same time. People would be going up for food as people were sitting. Plus we had a round booth, so me being at the end, I had to keep getting up.
Cards-gifts were giiven. It was nice.

From there we went to the casino that was 10 mins away, well, not my twin and his wife or her parents but the rest of us went. Once again, I lost 40 dollars in just over an hour, and I wasnt playing big either, I just wasnt hitting so for the rest of the time I stood behind my mom as she played...fun times...not.

From there went went to visit my nana. When we got there she was upset, she said she thought my father would be up after dinner. She tried calling or maybe the nurses didnt give her the number...or somewhere in between but we got there, it was just my parents, my older bro and I. We chatted for a bit, my mom put the bag of cards and gift next to me so I gave my nanna the cards one at a time as she would open it, read it and read it again, out loud the second time. She loved all the cards. My mom picked out a shirt-pants set for her, she seems to always need new clothes lol. She thanked us and we stayed for a while longer, we were there for close to 2 hrs. it was nice. She was happy to see us.

We came back home, no one else was hungry and I eventually had my father's left over home made pizza from a few nights ago and a salad.
Now we are all just relaxing.
It was a very nice mother's day.

helllllo texxxas!

I am getting away. I need a vacation from my parents. I'm going to tx to visit my friend Lisa and her fam again. We'll go to a ballgame and take her little one to the pool a few days, not sure what else we'll do but it doesnt matter. It will be relaxing.
That will actually be fahter's day weekend, June 14-18. My dad said it was ok.

speaking of which, my parents always want us kids to be together for all the holidays and b days. When one of us is not aaround, you can tell they are a little upset.
So my question...how many of you always get together for holidays and b days with your family's?

Last thursday I went to a game and took my friend Zac. I didnt realize it was his brother's b day that day and I was shocked that he and his family didnt selebrate his brother's b day that night and he came to the game with me instead.
If that was my parents, they would of had a cow about that.

Which do you think is normal or not normal?

I think it's normal. I don't always celebrate on my birthday. Maybe they had something planned another day? Even with Christmas we didn't do everything on one day. One side had it the Sunday before Christmas, the other side had it Christmas Eve, and the rest was on Christmas. *shrugs* not weird!

We don't celebrate much of anything other than Christmas with my family, and even that is hit and miss. No one comes over for my birthday, nor do they invite me over for theirs and it's the same with everyone else in the family. I don't know why it's that way with us, but I wish it was more like it is in your family. I think that's the way it should be.

My program is a two year program but you get your masters in the first year and then counseling license in the second.
