I feel important and cared about

05/11/2012

I’m feeling good and figured I’d write.

WORK

So I sent my boss an email this morning, just reminding her of my trip next week and that I will be in on the 14th and back on the 24, and that Kate will be joining the house meeting. (clinical coordinator) as well. I ran the HR meeting last night but someone should also check-in and mark down that M. and A. are notified of the rule. (we implemented a new rule in the house which all residents have to sign off on) *so basically, I was telling my boss what to do* Within two minutes, I received an email from my boss, addressed to all the staff members, telling them to make sure to go over the info with the clients who missed the meeting. *smirk* and my boss followed my advice.

You got a friend in me.
There is this friend who I met through bloop who I have known for a long time now. Well, she is going back to school to be an EMT. She is taking a psychology class and asked me if I could help her out. She sent me the links her prof provided her and she sent me the assignment. It has a case study where you had to read this case about a guy who murdered a store clerk and had schizophrenia and you had to write a minimum of 5 page analysis, on what you think the diagnosis is, siting sources of symptoms etc. What you think should be the treatment plan for the individual. Talk about both the defense and the prosecuting attorney’s opinion and pick which you believe is the correct side by the evident, not by your emotional response.
The night she had emailed me the info, May 2, I went through and read the case but wasn’t sure if I could help her as it was too close to the situation that happened at my work last year and told her so. She said that she understood if I couldn’t help her. That night I wrote her opening paragraph for her paper and pulled out some things from the 6 articles which her prof provided, and although it was bits, it was 1.5 pages she could work with. SO…Tuesday night I asked her how the paper was coming along. She write that she didn’t have much and was freaking out, not sure how she was going to get 5 pages. I asked her to email me what she has so far and admitted that she didn’t do any more than what I gave her. It was about 10PM and I told her that I will help write it and we will get it done. I delegated the parts, we worked on it, emailing back-forth the paper…at 4AM I told her that she has two options. She could either go to sleep now and complete it tomorrow or complete it tonight. She said that she would stay up and complete it tonight since she was almost done. I asked her to send me it when she was done so I could look it over in the morning. … I looked it over in the morning. I suggested since it was a term paper, to have a cover page that has her name, the date, the class name the semester and the name of the paper and she needed a work sited page. I also pointed out 3 minor things for her to fix. … She had did that when she got home from work that night and submitted it to her professor…
Early this morning she wrote me saying: “200/200 You are the best! Thank you, Thank you, Thank you soooo soooo much!!!!

On her FB page it went like this…
HER: 4 of 5 classes completed! One final left. This girl is going to bed after writing a 5.5 page paper. A special thanks to a wonderful friend!!
ME: that special friend must really care about you to stay up and help with a college paper. who in their right mind wants to write college term papers?
HER: Hahaha who knows *wink*
Her mom: Oh thank God their is someone else out there to help her BS her way through them!!! I thought I was the only one!!!!
HER: Lol! This need not the b.s. this time!
ME: I have never and will never "BS" my way through a paper. We did it with good old, losing sleep, hard work with a lot of encouragement. A paper that Kayci should be proud of...even if she never wants to hear the name Singleton ever again
HER: Hahahaha. You're right. I don't want to hear it again!
Her mom: so sorry I offended you Jonathon, it's kind of a joke between me and my daughter!!!!
ME: That's ok Mrs. Allen, did she share with you what she got for a grade on the paper?
HER: 200/200!
Her Mom: That's AWESOME my baby girl!!!!! KUDOS to you!!!!

This lady I helped, she is a big Bon Jovi fan and enjoys baseball when she can and of course, loves my poetry.

And speaking of helping out with school, my mom told me that a friend of the family’s daughter needs help in math. I emailed the mother, telling her that she just has to call my name and I’ll be there. She wrote me back, thanking me, saying that maybe we’ll get together during the summer.

Hmmm what else… well, I am wicked excited for my vacation!
A bloop friend on here *waves* commented how it seems as I am treated like a child at times and it is true. I know it is because of my blindness. I could point out specific examples how each of my family members treat me like a kid, but that would take too much negative energy. So instead, I would like to say that my friend Lisa has never ever ever said-done anything to make me feel like a child. (nor has my best friend, who is her brother) Who in their right mind would let a blind man shoot guns? … that would be Lisa. Who in their right mind would let a blind man drive a army Humvee on a residential street? That would be Lisa. Who would let a blind guy drive a bran new car…ok, that was John and he has done that with two of his cars. But Lisa welcomed me into her home, had no worries. I just held her arm with one hand, hold my cane with the other and if we crash into anything or anyone… oh well. She will always tell me where things are by saying “your right” or “your left” or use the old clock method “your cup is at 2 o’clock” When she messes up she’ll laugh at herself and correct whatever it is. I helped her with a few psychology papers too as she is going back to school to be a nurse and the lowest grade that I have assist with was a 96. Hmm not too shabby?

So we’re going to drive to Houston and “what happens in Houston, stays in Houston” lol. But I’ll share on here. We’re going to be meeting up with a friend of hers who she has not seen in 15 years… after the baseball game. We’re going to go to some bar with a band and rock out, have a few drinks and have a good time.

Lisa wants me to drive a 4 wheeler they have. Last year it was in storage, this year it is out, oiled up and ready for me to drive. 
Woo go me

We’ll go to the community pool they have and chill out there a few mornings and whatever else happens, happens.

It will be nice to get away from my life for a few days.

That’s all for now…tata!

Wooooo hoooooo go you for basically telling your boss what to do! I've done that at work when they're obviously doing it wrong, and I get yelled at....booooo.

Wow! That late night on that term paper definitely paid off!! Excellent! Should have had you help me with mine when I was still in school! Hahaha
