I'm leaving for my "J and J 2010 sports trip" on Saturday early morning and will be returning on Monday evening. I will catch up with you all then and will tell you about a weekend that I only dream would be a reality. I really do have an amazing life. CANTON OH, HERE I COME!
Letter 3: to my parents.
Dear Mom and Dad
I just wanted to take a moment to thank you both for all you have given me.
Thank you for giving me the opritunities you have.
Dad, I know that you regret not always being there in my childhood but you have worked very hard to give the family all we ever needed and wanted. You sacrifised your life not only to put food in our mouths and clothes on our backs and a roof over our heads, but you have also been able to take this family to Disney world twice, stay in NYC for the Thanksgiven parade numerous times, afforded us to celebrate our Bar Mitzvahs and graduations in style and then sending my two brothers and sister off to college without having to worry about a job or financial aid. We never had to worry about if we can have Chinese food this week, if we wanted to buy nike shoes or go away to NH for a weekend over the summer.
Dad you were there for all the important moments of our life. You were there each time we earned a cubscout badge, Amanda's dance resitle or any of our graduations.
Although Par bought Robert's, Justin's and my first tickets to a baseball game, you insisted on taken me. I will never forget that game. Sept 6th, 1989. On the way out we stopped by the suvenere stand and you bought me a complete red sox team package of Tops baseball cards.
I think the most important moment for me dad, in my childhood was all those opporations I went through on my eyes. You had brought me to as many pre and post opporation appointments as you could and you were by my side every time they would wheel me into and out of the opporation room.
Thank you and I love you.
Mom, the best mom in the world.
You are the rock of this family.
You are the foundation which we all stand and grow from.
You are a cook, a baker, a cleaner, a laundry mat, a shofer and our secretary.
You were a teacher of life and a tudorer of the school books.
You would always help us study and make sure all our homework was completed.
Whether it was driving us to our soccer games and practice, Hebrew school, Cub Scouts or driving Amanda to dance classes, you were always there no matter what and you never ever ever complained.
Personally, you have pushed for me to get any service I needed in school.
I had a lot of help along the way in school.
I had PT, OT, MO, vision-Braille teacher, speach teacher and a 1-on-1 aide. If not for you fighting the school system, I would not have had any of this. I am sure it wasnt easy but you sure made it seem that it was.
My thanks to you would not be complete without thanking you for taking me to so many concerts over the years. Whether it was taking us kids to KISS 108 concerts for so many years or taking me to see Bon Jovi, Blessid union of souls or BBD when I had no one else to take me. However, I will never forget the promase we made to each other. "If Madonna ever came to Boston, we would go"
Sure enough, she did come and I did not care what it would cost, the moment tickets went on sale, I called for disability tickets and got us front row on the floor. I will never tell you how much I paid for them, to this day I still have not paid more for a single ticket then I did for those.
Thank you for taking me to see Debby gibson at the 97.3 star concert, then to see her in the play Chicago, and for plan on taking me to see her next month in what ever play she's starring in next month at Foxwoods.
hmmm Thank you both mom and dad for getting me hooked on playing slots at casinos.
*laughs* Although I never won a jackpot, it is quality fun time with you.
Thank you mom, I love you.
In closing:
Mom and dad you have given me opritunities that people only dream of in their life time.
More importantly, you have both always stood by my side no matter what I wanted to do with my life.
When I wanted to be a lawyer you both stood by me and encouraged me to follow my dream.
When I changed my mind and decided I wanted to be a therapist, again, you both encouraged me and stood by me.
What ever avenue my life takes me through, I am lucky, fortunate and blessed to have such loving and caring parents as both of you.
