Friday night
Justin (my twin) came over after work and we went out for dinner with some of my dad’s friends. Went back to the house and I listened to the RedSox game from Seattle while laying in bed. They won. I shut the radeo off and had a hard time sleeping. I had to wake at 3;45 AM so I think I slept an hour somewhere between the 2 and 3 hour. I got up, took a shower and woke my twin up at 4. We were out of the house by 4;20.
We get through security pretty quickly thanks to someone pulling us out of line and bringing us to a handicap line. Now they have two dif types of scans you have to go through after you take off all your meddle stuff. Putting it all back on and inplace is the pain.
We get to our gate and about 15 mins before we bored I hear someone call my last name “you are hear” I couldn’t tell who it was but then he laughed and I knew. It was a friend-former coworker of mine. His flight was canceled the night before do to weather and they put him on the first flight out to Phoenix with a switch in Houston. I’m going to Auston with a switch in Houston. My bro says “we’re in row 7 seat D and E, how about you? He laughs as he says “7C” we are sitting right next to each other. No way you can plan that any better if you actually planned it. You wouldn’t of been able to get 3 seats in a row.
We get to Houston and hussle to the Auston gate and bored. The captain says it will be a 26 minute flight from Houston to auston so there wont be serving drinks. . So I am thinking of the “top 10 things that takes longer than this flight will take”. My morning bathroom rutine takes longer. An episode of Fullhouse, is longer. Driving to my house to boston with traffic, takes longer. Eating Chinese food takes longer. (than as if I was writing it as an article) writing this article takes longer” etc.
We get to Auston and get our rentle car. We had not eaten yet and it was about noon time so we went for lunch at a place his best friend suggested: Pluckers. (It is a must go to if you like wings) We get a complimentary half order of fried pickles. I never had them before and I liked them. I wouldn’t order them but if someone else did I’d have one. Then there is 10 dif sausages. The waitress says she can bring out samples of some if we wanted. So we asked for a feew. She brought them out on a little tray with the little cups of them and celory. They were good. (you can order in denominations of 5.) I got 5 terriaki and 5 what tastes line a honey mustard and a side of onion rings. It was all so good. They had a thing were if you can eat so many, you can get your name on the wall. It started with 25 and went up. The top of the list was one name. He had 100 wings. I could easily do 25 and prob do 50 especially if I am switching sauces.
After lunch we get in the car and my bro does some picture taking. He’s an architect so he loves seeing dif structures and well, stuff. I will get into his complaints later. So every few blocks he stops and pulls over and takea a few pics and gets back in the car and drives a few more blocks and takes more pics. I don’t know what it was all about. It was all greek to me.
We get to our hotel to check in. The person at the desk said the hotel was booked up and they moved some people over to another hotel. It happened to be the one my sister was staying at.
We drive over and check in. We’re on the first floor, if we wanted to, we could open our sliding door and walk right out to the pool area. It was a nice hotel. Clean and with helpful-friendly staff. So Justin’s friend Jared, his wife Errin and their 9 month old baby Emilly come and spend some time hanging out before the football game that night. Justin hasn’t seen them since Emilly was first born and even that was just a quick stay. Amanda stopped by for about 5 minutes before she had to leave for the game. She asked me what I was wearing for the game. I told her just the redsox t-shirt I was wearing. She said “you can wear this” She through a jersey at me. it was her All Star Game Jersey. I was excited and honored that she was going to let me wear it.
She ran off to the stadium. Justin and I left about quarter of 6, game would start at 7 but Justin wanted to take pictures. Errin had fell asleep so Justin told Jared not to rush and we’ll see them at the game.
We get to the stadium and there was maybe 20 people there, granted it was still 30 mins before the kickoff. Justin takes more pics as we walk around the entire stadium.
We meet up with Stacey, Amanda’s girlfriend and walk around with her. We finally find a place to sit and Jared, Errin and Emilly found us and sat right behind us. Even at the kick off, there was only about 200 people at the game. It was kinda sad but also understandable with the travel expenses.
The Boston Militia destroyed the Sacromento Sirens.
The final score was 39-7.
The 7 points for them came in the last 2 minutes when we had put in all our backup players.
They had 3 good chances to score only to turn the ball over each time.
*A cute moment
* Emilly was on the ground behind me during most of the game. Probably sitting between Errin’s legs. Well at some point, Emilly reached forward and grabbed my shirt, pulled on it and let it go. After her doing this a few times, I turn around and pull at her shirt. She laughed and when I turned back away from her, she pulled my shirt again. This went on for a few minutes… awww, how cute
When the final seconds ticked off the clock, we all “rushed” the field. Once on the field, we stood back from the players a bit to let them enjoy the trophy and hug each other. The coach said something to the team and players stpt forward to say a few words. Justin had his camora ready and when Amanda held up the trophy, Justin was able to get a pic of her. She came over and gave us hugs and took pictures with us. It was wonderful to be there for my sister.
We parted with Jared Errin and Emilly for dinner. We just desided to make it easy and go to Chillis. Justin wanted to spend as much time as possible with Jared. Who knows the next time we’ll see them.
(Like I told my mom when we got home, It was nice to see Jared and Justin together. I have not seen Justin laugh and be happy in a long time like that.)
After dinner we said our byes. And Justin and I were off to the hotel to crash while amanda was just leaving the hotel at midnight to start the partying.
I remind you, Eastern time it was 1AM and we had got up almost 24 hours before.
SUNDAY
Justin and I get up about 8 and Amanda came to get her All Star Jersey before she was off to the game.
We went for breakfast. They had a very nice contenentle breakfast that included a woffle maker and a hotpan with sausage patties. And oo were they good. I also had an apple Danish. Yum. We picked up, printed our bording passes and checked out.
Justin had to do more picture taking. We went to the U-texas football stadium and took pics and the LBJ library before continuing on to the All Star game.
It was only 10AM and was already 92 degrees.
We got there and there was maybe 10 people there and tops, 40 when we left after the first quarter. We had to catch a flight.
As we were walking out, my sis did see us and waved her hands. Justin got another pic of her. He was taking pics during the time we were there.
We headed to the airport. Dropped off our car. Looked around some of the shops and Justin got a shot glass for his wife who was on a business trip in Origon. Justin also got a sub from a chane subshop that started in texas that 15 years ago opened a shop in my town and Justin had worked there a year in high school. We bored the flight and had a lay over in Houston again. It was a good lay over as I got something to eat there before catching our flight back to Boston.
We got a voice mesage from my sister saying that she was glad we came. Wish we could have stayed for the entire all star game. because...
MY SISTER got the MVP!
“shipping up to Boston wo o o”
“oh, Boston you’re my home!”
Drop kick Murphy
“who says you cant go home. Been all around the world and as a matter of fact. There’s only one place left I want to go”
