hi people. I got a bit of a cold but not complaining as it is the first of the season for me.
I went to work yesterday. was introduced to a new coworker. Was informed that there is a blind client who maybe coming on Thursday to attend our peer specialist group. (it was thought by the higher management it would be good for this person to experience first hand, that being blind is not the end of the world) I am not sure if the peer specialist knows about this other person attending or not. One of our clients came back home from a month stay at a psych hospital and my boss asked if I would sit down with him to talk about how he feels and what he thinks he will need to get back on his feet etc.
Yesterday's group went very well.
I opened the group up by thanking everyone for coming (as I always do) and then welcoming M back home. (he said thank you) I had the new counselor introduce herself and after we spent a few minutes trying to pronounce her name. The clients went around the room, they said their name and how long they've been at the group home and some said one other thing about themself. T was, as always, sitting on the couch and so she had to be promted for her name and how long she has lived there for. I then explained that the new counselor is a fulltime staff member who will be here t-s 3-11, and that A, H and T will be signed to her but of course anyone can go to her for questions. another staff took over for a minute, adding in that we may need to help her out at first, show her how we do things around here but that she will catch on quickly. I ended the session by informing the members I will be doing a 1-on-1 weekly on Thursday after Z's group so you (they)are not overwelmed with groups and I will be doing a weekly group on Tuesdays.
I asked if there was any questions, they said no, I said group is over and thank you all for coming.
On Monday my wicked awesome sis in law sent me a job post from the school she works for. It is as a part time counselor. This is one of my dream jobs as one of the perks of working at a college is you can take classes for free = a free DR. degree for Jonathan.
I have been working on my cover letter, which i am done with, just having someone proof read it for me. I also looked at my resume and added a few more bullets to my current job and then looked at my list of references and realized they were all supervisers so asked a former coworker if I could put her down as a reference as "SO! since you bring out the best in me, (you got to see the best in me) I was wondering if I could put you down as a reference?"
her reply:
I'd love to be a reference for you!
Let me know when you interview so I am prepared to sing your high praises!
so hopefully I'll have everything set by the end of the night and I'll be able to put that all through to the college.
I'm getting tired again, so I'll stop here.
However, if you know any one who you think would enjoy reading me, I hope you will invite them to read me.
(I got a bit jealous when I realized that others had lots of people wanting to be on favs and I only have about 12, and I think two of them are not on bloop any more.
