poem, Serman, Karen, redsox

09/28/2012

I just wrote this as I was listening to music...
a "real" update later tonight... sorry for a double!

She calls me
Painful stories
Opens up
Teered streek make up

Llies
Hurts inside
Wears a happy face
Everyone thinks she’s in a different place

Covers her pain
Doubles down with the rain
She’s drained
Calls my name

Yom Kippur

My Rabbi had an interesting serman.

He started by telling a creative story of the Tortoise and the Hare.
He then talked about how the Hare had a “big head” and a big “ego” which brings us to the Olympics. The Olympics is suppose to be a symbol of world unity, peace, and sportsmanship. However, 40 years ago it was anything but that as 11 Isrally athletes and coaches were killed. Rabbi told the gruesome story of what happened that night 40 years ago in Germany. It was a shock to the nation of Izriel that there wasn’t even a moment of silence or any egknowledgementbut rather, She said that “I won the game” “I scored the goal.” Nothing about her teammates. She forgot there is no “I” in team and soccer is a e Olympics just went on as if nothing happened. The victom’s family waited 40 painful years with the hope they could have 60 seconds of a moment of silence to remember these Athletes. However, just like then, the Olympic Committee voted to not have a moment of silence or any type of recognition of what happened that dark night. All the family wanted was 60 seconds. However, there was plenty of Coke, beer and car advertisement which brought in millions of dollars per. It just proves that the Olympics is about money, greed. The Olympic committee have big heads and their hands deep in their pockets.

The Rabbi talked about the American Athletes and how big some of their heads are. He quoted Michael Felts and how he called himself a living legion, he is the Michael Jordan of his sport. He never thanked his family, friends, coaches or teammates. Just like the lady who got the gold game winning goal in soccer for USA. She was about herself. How “I won the game”. The last Ichecked, soccer is a team sport. It should be “we” not I.

We have to remember to thank those who have helped us along the way because no one has ever done anything by themselves.

I’m sure what he said was a lot more eloquent than that but you get the point.

so excited...Karen called me on her way to work to tell me that she talked to her bf about me coming for a week end and he was ok with it. I think this is completely strange but whatever. I have to go into this with the appearance of me going to meet a friend while mentally seeing if we are compatible in person.

I was in shock. Karen said to me “I think I just heard your jaw hit the floor” followed by a soft giggle. I was speechless and excited.

Tuesday and Wednesday night she had called me after work. (she works 4pm-12) She was sharing things with me that not only am I the only one who knows, if I was in her shoes, I would not tell anyone. I feel honored, trusted, cared and loved. I heard her cry, I heard her laugh and all in between.

Last night we talked about going to a concert while I’m out there. I’m trying to find a rock concert to go to. There are a lot of little bands that I never heard of so I have to do more research. Originally I was thinking to go to a Indi Colt’s game but once I started adding everything up, when you include the airfare, it’s more than I can afford to spend. However, I would be happy to take her to a rock concert. Plus, I know she would enjoy a concert a lot more than a football game.

Does anyone know any tricks to the trade of buying plane tickets? I’m finding that going to the company sites is actually cheaper than the travel sites who claim they have the cheapest price.

I know that everyone in the world knows how much I love my red sox and even saying that isn’t strong enough. Last night it occurred to me, there are only 6 more games left in the red sox season. That’s 2 series. So needless to say, I’ll be sad as usual without my boys of summer.

That’s all for now, by-bye
