Rollercoaster ride: trial, Karen, Work, C's home opener, 2013 WS...REDSOX ARE THE CHAMPIONS!

11/06/2013

Monday: October 21
It has been a long and painful last few months. Although you cannot bring back those who are no longer with us, with the sentencing of my once client for the brutal murder of my once coworker, I have some closure in that painful chapter of my life. Stephanie Moulton maybe gone but she won't soon be forgotten.
Deshawn Chappell was sentenced to life in prison without the chance of parole.
HALLELUJAH!

I had found out through a friend who saw the article on boston.com and sent it right to me. I am thankful-glad he did. I literally had a tear fall from my eyes of both joy and relief as I read the article and from there, I kept trying to find more info on the trial. Unfortunately, you can only read the news papers on line dating back 2 weeks and the trial was 3 weeks long.

My mom was switching pocketbooks today, she’s going to a casino over night and wanted to bring her smaller pocketbook.
She reached into one of the pockets of the smaller one and what did she find? A bunch of expired coupon. Oh, that wasn’t the important part. She found the receipt for Toys R US from the gift card that was stolen. So now that we have that, we can call when she gets back from babysitting my nephew on Friday to see what they can do.(Nov 5th, we still have not gone to talk to them)

Unfortunately, I still think of Karen a lot. Today it was pretty bad. I felt like a pool of pain was sitting in my stomach and the painful water was march up my stomach to my throat and head and I wanted to throw up. Fortunately for me, after about 20 minutes I was finally able to focus on work.
Unfortunately for me, this weekend will be the one year since that magical weekend in Indiana.
The weekend where I truly fell in love with her, body, mind and soul.

WORLD SERIES
I went to game one of the 2013 world series with my friend Zac.
We had tickets. Down the right field line one section up, front row. They were the…3rd best seats I ever had. (that’s saying a lot lol I’ve been to over 400 games at Fenway Park) There was some great fans around us too. Everyone talking to each other and when it came to it, high fiving everyone else.

It was the Boston Red Sox against the St. Louis Cardinals.
The Red Sox had their ace, John Lester pitching while the Cards countered with their ace, Adam Wainright.
Wainwright could not get anyone out and when he thought he did, there was an error. David Ortiz came up with the bases loaded and hit a blast that everyone thought was a grand slam and would have been if not for Card’s outfielder Carlos Beltron who crashed into the wall and made a highlight catch to make it only a 1-0 lead for the sox instead of 4-0. Ironically, it would have been Ortiz’s 16th post season homeruns which would tie Beltron.
However, in the game, Ortiz would get the last laugh as Ortiz did slam a home run to tie Beltron and John Lester had his Ace stuff as he shut down the cards.
The Red Sox end up crushing the Cardinals, 8-1.

HIGHLIGHTS…Lester pitched 7 2/3 innings not allowing an earned run.
David Ortiz went on fire and even when he got out, it still hurt the Cards… He got a home run and a, what should have been grand slam, but their superstar center fielder crashed into the wall, went up and caught the ball before crashing back down. Beltron had to come out of the game with a contusion on the right side of his rib cage.
The Cardinals made 3 errors and 2 mental errors that wasn’t recorded as errors.

Game2 It was the Red Sox turn to make the errors and lose.
Game 3: It was an exciting game but it came down to a play that is rarely called and never was called in the 1404 post season games. It ended on an obstruction call where the Red Sox 3rd baseman dove for a ball the catcher threw and was on the ground. The Cardinals had a man running around 3rd and had to go outside of the baseline to go around the fielder who was on the ground. The base runner continued on and was thrown out at home but the umpire said that if the 3rd base man wasn’t on the ground, the runner would have scored. So the ump gave the Cardinals the run and the victory.
Game 4: It was the bottom of the 9th with 2 outs, the cards were down 4-2 and they had a man on first and their best power hitter at bat. If he could get a home run, it would tie the game. … the man on first base got picked off and the Red Sox win.
Game 5 The Red Sox win. With aces taking the mounds again, Wainwright brought his A game for the Cardinals. Fortunately, although John Lester didn’t bring his A game, be brought his B+ game which was good enough to hold on for Jonnie Gomes to hit a 3 run home run to eventually give the Red Sox the win.

Wednesday: 10-30
I went to a staff meeting where the person who oversees all the houses for the company, ran it. I have seen-chatted with her from time to time over the years but I do not know much about her. The staff meeting went ok. I disagreed about a few things she said which, she’s now the boss of the house for the time being so whatever she says.
However, she brought us more bad news. (normally I work with 2 females, that’s just the way the shifts works out) When I was gathering up the other staff members for the meeting, I had asked her where so and so is and she said not to worry about it. I just thought, ok? She probably just called out sick or something. Nope, she’s on administrative leave and is 99.8 % not returning. UG! Just the previous week I lost my boss and now a coworker. Jonathan being Jonathan, I sent out an email to my coworker who is left and the morning staff member, letting them know that if there is anything I can do, let me know cause I know there is a lot on your shoulders. So if you need me to go over a form with a resident or have an issue, let me know. Although I won’t be able to fill out the actual document, I will be able to write it in a msw doc and they can just take the answers and fill in the forms.
And in the mean time, the clients are wondering who’s going to take care of them. If my boss and coworker leaving was there fault. Which it has nothing to do with them. I feel bad for them and everyone else. I’m trying to stay positive and offering a helping hand.

WORLD SERIES GAME 6
Yup, I was there. Section 37, row 13, seat 4 of the bleachers.
Starting the night before, I was telling Zac that we need to go to game 6. He kept saying no no, I have a bad feeling about this. There will be a game 7. I kept pushing him throughout the morning. We were looking at prices and they were ridiculous! On ESPN.com, they said that it was the highest non-Super Bowl average ticket price in the history of American sports. I know there is very little, an extreme little percentage of things I keep off of here and what I paid for a single ticket, will be one of those. So yes, at some point he asked me what the most I would pay was, and I told him and he said that he should be able to get tickets for less than that amount. At one point he totally messed with my mind… There is a section of Fenway Park that I only dream to sit in… the green monster seats. There are only 24 of them. He posted on my screen “green monster tickets $2000” I was freaking out, I was like we’re sitting on the green monster for a world series game?! He wrote, nah, but I just wanted to see your reaction. Bring x money and we’ll get in. (I was coming from work) so I brought X+100 just in case.

My father got me to the planned location but with the possibility of the city closing many of the streets, which it already had closed the streets surrounding Fenway Park, they would close a few more…last resort we would meet my dad in the front of Zach’s dorm.

Zac and I got food and ate on the picnic tables they have out behind the stadium. (they have a street blocked off and they bring out picnic tables and they do fun things for kids out there like face painting.) We went up to our seats after that.

They were good seats. Just right of center field and 13 rows up second section up.
However, the people around us was a different crowd than what we are use to. To the left of me was a normal couple. However, in front of us was some business people down from Canada who apparently have lots of money and was at the game to say they were there and to give them something to do while in town. They didn’t know much about baseball. The people to the right of Zac were business people up from NC. Same situation, but they knew about baseball but they were talking during the entire game and not about baseball. Then there was the two guys who were sitting right behind us. Although they were from Boston and knew baseball, they are use to sitting “down there” in the expensive seats.
It’s game 6 of the world series. I paid a lot of money for these tickets. When my team does something awesome, I want to jump up and cheer on my boys and stand for as long as I want…unless Mr. rich man behind us who never sat in the bleachers (he told his buddy that) with an intimating voice says loudly “SITDOWN!” I sat down but every time something happens, the crowd all stands and so do Zac and myself and each time the guy would sit there and scream “sit down I can’t see the game” (hello? Stand up like everyone else)
So now you know the people who were sitting around us.

Game 6 of the previous series, which Zac and I was also at, Drop Kick Murphy’s sang the national anthem followed by their hit song “shipping up to Boston” They were invited back to do the same for game 6 of the World Series. It was fun.

It was so exciting. The first two innings both teams were shutting out the other. The Cardinals had their young star pitching, Michael Wacha, who in 3 playoff games has an ERA of 1.00. (meaning, for every 9 innings he pitched he only gave up 1 run per) up against the veteran John Lackey.
In the 3rd inning, the pressure got to Wacha, as he was walking people and gave up a few hits. The Red Sox scored 3 runs in the 3rd and another 3 in the 4th, knocking Wacha out of the game and the following pitcher didn’t do much better as Wacha only pitched into the 4th. The Cardinals finally got smart about pitching to David, who was batting 733 during the series and the rest of the team something like a 150 average. So they walked David Ortiz. However, in this game even that didn’t work as other people stepped up to hit. Lackey pitched into the 7th where he got into some trouble and gave up a run. He was taken out and tazawa came in to get the Cardinals to get out. Workman, a rookie came in and got the Cardinals in the 8th and with the entire stadium, including the two guys behind me, standing up, Coji (I won’t try to spell his last name) got the Cardinals to get out and the Boston Red Sox became the 2013 major league baseball world champions!
It was the first time in 95 years which the Boston Red Sox won a championship where the game clincher was at home.
Fireworks went off. people were screaming and high-fiving each other. I gave Zac a huge hug before high-fiving everyone.
They set up a stage and the commissioner of baseball gave a little speech and gave the world series champion trophy to the owner of the Red Sox and was passed around from there. The TV reporter who was interviewing everyone. They brought David Ortiz to the stage and he received the MVP trophy and the keys to some 2014 car. Zac then dragged me to the shop across the street to get 2013 world champions hats. I was wearing the one from 2004 and after he paid for the hat he turns towards me and says “do you want to change hats?” It took me a second to think what he was talking about but just like a Christmas tree, my face lit up and he put it on me.

With the sound of more fireworks going off and thunderous cheers along with hardy bands of fanatics singing various songs such as “we are the champions” “Tessie” and “every little thing, is gonna be alright” Zac and I tried to get away from that and towards where we were to meet my father. However, do to the blocking off of a quarter mile radius around the stadium, and thousands of police officers, it was a maze getting out of there. When we learn that the meeting place we told my dad would not work out, we walked the opposite direction and met my father at a bridge. I felt like I walked a few miles…and I probably did with all the twists and turns to get out of the Fenway area. At last, my father and his friend Al found us and since Zach’s dorm was only a little ways down the street from where we were, we drove him to the front door of his dorm. I handed him money at that point. I handed him the x+100. He paid for all the food and hats etc. and although it came nowhere near that +100, he could use the money more than I. He’s a college student after all. We thanked each other and he said we’ll keep in touch and I send definitely. And my friends, that was one of the best experiences of my life.
My Boston Red Sox are the 2013 World Champions of baseball.

Nov 1: home opener for the Boston Celtics
I went with my two brothers. We went to Boston Beerworks before the game for dinner. They had changed their menu. They use to have amazing onion rings…now they have onion straws. I’m not a huge fan of them.

My heart was never in the basketball game. I was still thinking of the Red Sox world series victory.

The C’s were up by as many as 22 in the 3rd quarter but fell apart after that. They ended up losing by 7.

Saturday November 2nd. Parade
My cousin Heidi wanted to make sure we would have a spot in Government Center. The parade would start at 10AM…so Heidi wanted me at her house by 7:30 so we could be in Boston by 8:30ish. I got to my cousin’s about 7:15. We, Heidi and her 14 year old son Jalen, got to Government Center by 8AM… so there we stood. The barricades were already up for the parade and the area was deserted. She took my jacket and hers and laid them on the ground so we could save a spot for her friends. Yup, here we stand, just waiting for time to pass. Heidi being annoyingly excited-perky. Her son bored even with having his I touch and I was bored x 100.lol. I thought if we got there by 9 we would be fine. People started gathering about 8:30. By 9 it started to fill in and by 9:15, you could not more. I eventually got my jacket when her friends came and some I knew and some I was introduced to. I got my radio out of my jacket and found the channel where they were covering the parade ad they were interviewing some of the players and managers and front office personnel before the parade. That was pretty awesome.

An estimated 2 million people lined the parade route from Fenway Park to Boston’s bay. A far cry from the parade in 2004 when 4.5 million people showed up.

The players, owners, managers, coaches, scouts, front office personnel, police officers and drop kick Murphy’s got on 25 Duck boats which would ride through the streets of Boston and around the bay and head back to where ever their vehicles were.

The parade itself, was only 10 minutes long but the entire parade lasted about 3 hours.
When the first duck boat was heading towards the Marathon finish line, some of the players got out and ran the to the finish line. Gomes and Napoli took the trophy and placed it on top of the finish line with the 617 jersey which has been hanging in the locker room since that tragic event back in April, was placed over the trophy. That stuff was not planned but to have the first boat stop at the finish line and for everyone to sing “god bless America” was planned as everyone sang it together. What a tribute.
. (617 = Boston area code)

As the boats were passing by, my cousin Jalen was screaming the player’s name above the crowd so I knew who was going through.

After the parade passed by, my cousin wanted to take a picture with the Mr. Bill Russell statue that was unveiled the day before. I got a picture with the statue. That was pretty cool but the statue is long overdue.

Sunday November 3,
Mom: You won’t believe who I saw at the Kid’s store at the mall.
ME: who?
Mom: Lisa
ME: (I laughed, in an omg you are kidding me…laugh)
MOM: I’m sorry
(maybe she thought I was sad or something?)
ME: no no no, that’s cool.
Mom: she had her little girl with her and she also had a 17 month old too. (probably home?)
She seemed uncomfortable though. I don’t know why. I gave her a hug and she said she was doing good. She asked how everyone was doing and I told her that everyone is doing well. Because she seemed uncomfortable, I didn’t ask her anything else.
ME: so you don’t know if she still lives in Saugus or not?
Mom: no.
MOM: but she still looks the same.
(as I visualize her) my first love.
ME: I went on facebook a few months to see if I could find her. I was ummm
Mom: you were stalking her.
ME: hmm yup, I guess so.
ME: I could not find her but found out her dream job came true. She runs her own day care center.
Mom: I bet she is good at it.
ME: I'm sure she is.
Mom: she looks exactly the same.
ME: (I visualize her again and smile)

Monday November 4th
I shaved my beard off that I started growing October 17 to be a part of the Red Sox unity thing which the players started back in April.

.

Tuesday, November 5th
My mom knocked on my door about 10AM and told me to get up and clean up your room a bit Joey (our handy man-etc) was coming to check out the odor that is coming from the back of the house. (I never smelled it) So Joey and his nephew came and took samples from the siding on the back of the house and tested the ground water …or something and Joey’s boss came down about an hour later to give my mom the bad news. There was a buildup of mildew on and under the siding of the back of the house…they may have to tear down the back wall of my room and things could be contaminated in the room.
Much to my frustration, aggravation, stress and anything else, I have to move …up stairs to what use to be my sister’s room. It’s about 1/3rd the size. My mom originally said that everything have to come out. I had first started with my clothes I wear regularly. My mom took up some of my jackets. (lol I have like 7 different jackets. I only wear 3 of them, the others I put on when I get yelled at that the jacket I’m wearing isn’t for x season.) My mom brought up my radio system and later on, I will go through with one garbage bag and put all my VIP (p=paper) in and throw away little junk stuff that either I don’t know what it is or like I threw away a few necklaces of beads from a Mardi Gra parade I went to in Tampa FL in 2001. I’m not sure where we are going to move all my sports collectable stuff to, there is a LOT. But they have to all be moved.
It’s a lot of work and I’ll be doing it all on my own.
Yup, just more stress for me…yay

We caught bits and pieces of the game... I am so glad they won. I saw the news cast about the guy who was sent to prison. while I was at the gym one morning. I was like " Thats who Jonathan is talking about!" they gave away free tickets here on base for the season opener for the C's. But you active duty member had to show up to claim them from our ITR office here on base. James works 30-45 min away without traffic, so needless to say we missed that game. I am going to try and get him tickets for Christmas. we need to have lunch or something sometime!!

I am so incredibly happy that the trial is over and it resulted in justice for her and her family. So many times you hear of it turning the other way and they practically get away with it. So glad this wasn't the case!

I'm sorry you're still having a hard time with the Karen situation. I know down the road it will get easier but right now it's too fresh. *hugs* hang in there.

How extremely exciting for you that you got to be there to see them win the world series! That's probably every baseball fan's dream and you got to do it! The part about the man behind you screaming for you to sit down makes me laugh though. Who sits during a whole baseball game? Especially one of that magnitude? What a weirdo.

Sorry you're dealing with the stress of moving your stuff. It's definitely better to move it than to have it all be contaminated though! Especially your prized possessions!

*hugs* to you my friend!!

I'm happy the RedSox won!! I was thinking of you the whole time.

The Karen situation; it will eventually get better. Time heals all wounds, I truly believe that.

I finally know the players who you are talking about since I am familiar with the St. Louis Cardinals..yea me!! I only know them because they are a big deal here and when I watch the news, they are always talking about them. I'm just clarifying that I don't watch baseball of my own free will lol!

I'm sorry for all the hassle and stress of having to move your stuff..what a pain.
