this just irks me, makes me MAD

06/20/2011

You may never have heard the name Garrett Wittels before and if it wasnt for the fact that he is a college baseball player for FIU who was on the verge of breaking a record, I probably would not know him either.

December of last year, Wittels and two of his baseball buddies went to Nassau, Bahamas for a winter break get away from the classroom and the baseball park. They were in for the ride of their life.

Two American teenage girls clamed that Wittels and his friends raped them. They said they were brought to Wittels's hotel room where the baseball players over-powered these "innocent" and "defenseless" teenage girls.

After 6 long months of the Nassau Correctional System, including being arrested, booked, questioned and held, today, justice was served and these 3 innocent young men who went away for a vacation to walk into hell, finally got to walk away with a clean record.

The defense attorney said"accusation stemmed from an apparent attempt to extort money from the Atlantis resort" He went on to say: nightmare is over for Garrett," Sharpstein said. "This case was nothing but an outrageous persecution of Garrett based on perjured testimony, a pack of lies told by these young ladies and encouraged by one of their fathers, who attempted to execute an extortion scam against Atlantis."

Judge Derrence Rolle-Davis drop the charges against Garrett Wittels and two friends from New York at the request of prosecutors who said they had no case against the men. The judge ordered the $10,000 bond paid by each should be returned.

"You are free to go," he told them.

Outside court, Wittels, and his two friends, shook hands with police and his lawyers but decline to talk to reporters.

THAT'S ALL THE YOUNG MEN GET?! A "YOU ARE FREE TO GO" AND "HERE'S YOUR MONEY BACK"?!
These two young girls and their father don't get anything? Shouldnt they go to jail for faulse rape clames and trying to extort money?!

I think a faulse rape clame should be the same sentence as a rape and should be put on some list so everyone knows ... just like if these 3 young men were convicted wrongly.

NOW, you maybe wondering why I am so hot about this case-this topic.

I have told this story once before on here.
When I was a sofemore in college, there was this guy who lived on the same floor as me, actually right across the hall from me, who is an extremely nice guy. He was outing and would only lend a hand. My second day in my room, he had knocked on my door, never have known me before, introducing himself and asking if I needed any help. He had asperations of being either a politition or a police officer.

One day, when I was coming back from classes, I heard a police officer knocking on his door and then reading his rights while arresting him.

The story went like this...
His x gf was jealous of his new gf. She came up with a plan to get back at him so no one would have him. "If I can't have him, no one will"
He went to his room one night to apoligize for the way she acted, friendliness got to drinking, drinking got to having sex. She went down to the police station the next day to put a clame in that he had raped her.

How do I know all this?
My college roommate at the time was good friends with the girl's best friend who the girl confided in.
Wether that guy was found to be innocent, I have no idea. I never heard about him on campous again. Either way, from that situation, I have always been extremely caucious of females when it comes to sex or anything close to it. I don't want to find myself a victom of a faulse rape clame on the hands of some eval woman

AND the sad reality, this could happen to any guy at any time by any woman.

That irks me too! It's horrible! Sometimes it is hard to judge if the sex was consensual or not though, because anyone can lie, but still...if it was a lie, the liars need to be prosecuted, because those players got a big chunk taken out of their careers for that, and it boggles my mind as to how the court systems work sometimes. Grrr.
