trying to find myself in this world

06/07/2010

It's been a dificult 18 months for me personally.
I had just recieved my advance master's degree and the counseling center that I worked at for 4 years was closing down and I'd be moving on to a group home with only 4 hours a week. I figured I would be able to find a job pretty easily.

We as people try to dream and set goals for where we want to be in life in many facits of our lives.
But what happens when it doesn't work out how we quite thought it would.

Here I am, 32 years old, two master degrees, living with my parents, with a part time job and no special lady.

Where is my life going?
Where will the next major life altering event take me?
When will it happen?
What will it be?

As I sift through the hundreds of job ads on careerbuilder, monster, indeed and other job sites and spend time and money on dating sites the last 9 years, I feel as reality is holding me back. Growing up, people would say "dont let your disability hold you back" and I would just smile at them and nod however, that's not how real life works.

In real life, people are ignorant and full of isms.
In real life, a lot of counseling jobs you need a drivers license to counsel.
In real life, ladies are not comfortable dating a guy who is blind.
In real life, I can't just get into a car and drive where ever I want, when ever I want.

Be greatful for what you do have.

I have a great family.
I have a couple of really good friends.
I have some cool former coworkers.
I have some amazing bloop buddies.
I have a religion to follow and a G.D to believe in.
I have a job.
I have my mind and a great memory.
I am educated.
I have things in life that I am passionate about.
I have some money in the bank.
I have done some traveling that has taken me to 17 major league stadiums from Montreal to Miami, from Boston to San Diego.
I have also been to over 100 concerts in the last 16 years. I have seen every musicle band-group-artest I ever wanted to see (minus Nirvana) and most of them multiple times.

...Sure would be nice to have a fulltime job and be living with a special lady though

See? There's a lot of good things going in your life. Just think of those, when the other things are seeming to be hard to reach. I'm sure they'll all fall into place

Well, if you ever want to come hang out in Michigan for a bit...I'd be happy to take ya to Comerica park to catch a Tigers Game. They're actually somewhat entertaining this year. LOL

its nice to put things in perspective, but I understand how you feel about wanting those things. You are constantly in my thoughts and prayers about this
