Use your illusion to get the girl
3-4-14
By Jonathan

I went to summer camp
Shooting hoops and playing dodge ball but never was a champ

There was this popular girl
I fantasized about her and how she could change my world

I knew I wasn’t cool enough
Strong enough
And all that stuff

I’d see her flirting with the other boys
I wonder what she enjoys

How could I get her to talk to me
She probably think I’m crazy
Maybe ask her to dance at the Shabbat’s dance
I would probably be rejected but I’ll take that chance

She danced with me
We danced fast, we danced slow
I never want to let her hand go
I was grinning, I was on top of the world
I was dancing with the popular girl

There was a bonfire that night
She took my hand and lead me to the light
We sat on the top step to the beach
This beautiful woman who I thought was out of my reach
Was sitting next to me
Smiling at me

Summer camp was coming to a close
Two more weeks and we will have to go
I don’t want it to end
I won’t ever get to see her again

Awards day is here
She sat down right in front of me there
I could smell her green apple shampoo
I kept on sniffing, it was driving me crazy, I didn’t know what to do.
I studied her from behind
She’s one of a kind

The awards were over, everyone was getting up to go
She got up, there she goes, there goes the show
I was feeling sad
A chance I never thought I had

I put my hand on the ground
A cassette tape is what I magically found
I brought it home
My bro said it belong to that girl, I felt like I was the king of Rome

Monday afternoon I went to her with the tape
My hands were shaking, I need superman’s cape
I went up to her and stupidly said
“I think this belongs to you”, I was feeling crazy in my head

She said it was and took the tape from me
She was happy, she thanked me
She leaned forward and gave me a kiss
Something I’m glad I didn’t miss
