"where were you when ..." I am proud to be an American

05/01/2011

In life, there are those moments when someone asks you years later "where were you when..." you can recall with such clarity as if we just lived it.

May first, 2011, at about 10:30pm EST

I was sitting in my room, listening to the New York Mets and the Philadulphia Phillies on ESPN radeo when they went to breaking news and a female telecaster from the ESPN studio, Amy Lorance, said

"breaking world news, osama bin laden was killed and is in the hands of the Americans."

I ran into my den, and my mom had the tv already on the local CBS and I sat on the floor and waited and eventually, I heard from our President, that YES, Bin Laden is dead. yes he is in our hands and yes, no soldier was harmed in today's opporation

This news is ... I can't put a word there.

I have friends who spent time in Pacastan, defending the RED WHITE and BLUE.
and they both came home in the same condition as they went.
I am blessed to be able to say that as many others, werent so lucky.
Thank you President and all the men and women who made this day possible.

Lee Greenwood - I'm Proud To Be An American

If tomorrow all the things were gone,
Id worked for all my life.
And I had to start again,
with just my children and my wife.

Id thank my lucky stars,
to be livin here today.
Cause the flag still stands for freedom,
and they cant take that away.

And Im proud to be an American,
where at least I know Im free.
And I wont forget the men who died,
who gave that right to me.

And I gladly stand up,
next to you and defend her still today.
Cause there aint no doubt I love this land,
God bless the USA.

From the lakes of Minnesota,
to the hills of Tennessee.
Across the plains of Texas,
From sea to shining sea.

From Detroit down to Houston,
and New York to L.A.
Well there's pride in every American heart,
and its time we stand and say.

That Im proud to be an American,
where at least I know Im free.
And I wont forget the men who died,
who gave that right to me.

And I gladly stand up,
next to you and defend her still today.
Cause there aint no doubt I love this land,
God bless the USA.

And Im proud to be and American,
where at least I know Im free.
And I wont forget the men who died,
who gave that right to me.

And I gladly stand up,
next to you and defend her still today.
Cause there aint no doubt I love this land,
God bless the USA.

USA! USA! USA!
