My Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Speech

I have traveled millions of miles
From my backyard of Boston to the Nile’s
I started off in Boston, playing in the clubs
Now I am playing in wriggly, the home of the cubs
I’ve played at the Tokyo dome and the new Wembley stadium
Thanks to you, I have sold millions of albums
I couldn’t of done it without the support of my family and friends
They are always behind me till the end
First I want to thank my parents, for letting me follow my dreams
Even if they think all I do is scream
I’m not sure how they put up with all that racket when I was growing up
I remember asking for a guitar for my birthday, my mom said “wouldn’t you rather have a pup?”
I want to thank my best friend Arty
Who knew when it was time to work and he could always throw a great party
I don’t know what tonight has in store
But with Art around, it will be great, that’s for sure
I have been blessed with a great band who is always there for me
Mike, Jose, tiny Tim and Billy
I want to thank my producer, the band manager and my record label
They have all put in so much time over the years, without them, it would not have been so stable
There is an old cliché, “behind every successful man is a strong woman.”
I would have to politely disagree. My strong woman walks beside this successful man
She is my best friend, the love of my life, my ace, my rock and the mother of my children
I love you Karen
We were blessed to have 3 wonderful children
Stephanie, John and Ben
Individually, you each have inspired me in your own way
Lastly are my fans, you are the reason I continue to play
Without you, I don’t know, I would be a carpenter or maybe a fool
I definitely was not good in school
In closing, because I see the red light
Which signifies the end of this night
I have been rocking this world for almost 30 years
But, I am no where near ending my career
I plan on rocking till they lay my guitar next to me in my grave
