yeahaw! I'm going to the lone state

04/02/2011

I'm sure to most of you, you will say "oh, that's nice"

SO... Lisa, my best friend's sister, called me last night, asked if I was serius about coming down to see a game. So of course I was like "yah!" she was like... ok, when would you like to come? I said well, I dont like hot weather, so not June July or August. She's coming up here in sept, so we looked at the May games.
Well, she had stubhub.com up with the texas ranger's schedule already on her screen. So she read me the teams they are playing. Of course, "new york yankees" made my ears perk up. She brought up the south west site and we narrowed it down to me going from May 7 till may 10th.
So I told her that I would take care of it over the next week. So today, in trying to find tickets for Saturday and sunday. (her Matt works 6 days a week, has Sunday off) However, unless i wanted to pay 50 bucks just to get into the stadium, I wasnt going to find any thing more than scatted tickets. Something acurred to me, when is Mother's day? (looked it up) oh, it's May 8th. not sure if she would want me to go for her first mother's day as a mother. I did find 3 crappy seats from the texas ranger's site, but they were regular price, 17 bucks, good deal. You cant buy a ticket at fenway park for under 25 dollars. So I looked at the following day, (instead of saturday, we could go monday) and they were playing the Oak A's and there was plenty of tickets for that game. I did look at the following week, just in case she wanted mother's day for herself, and there was a game but the airfairs were 30 dollars more each way the week after mother's day. I didnt get that.
So I called her about mother's day, plus I had to find out the airport code since there is 5 airports in texas.

She said that her kid wouldnt know the difference and it's not a big deal to her. (as the same with my mom, not a bbig deal) and the airport code was dal. She said monday would be great. I asked about this "all you can eat portch" seats. she told me they are where the green monster would be. I asked if she would like that and she said "sure, what ever you want". (basicly, it's only 7 dollars more than the regular seats. I'm sure I'll eat more than 7 bucks worth of food) So i was all set, I just had to book everything. So as soon as I got off the phone with her, I (with my mother's help, (stupid internet)) got the baseball tickets and the air tickets

So I am going to major league stadium #17!

when I was 14, I set 3 "life time goals" for myself which I speak about time to time on here.

1. to get married
2. to ern a doctorett degree
3. to visit all major league stadiums

have you ever set a goal at a young age and slowly, piece by piece, see the pieces of the puzzle fall into place?

It's amazing.

Another thing, my hero, the great Nolan Ryan, now owns the team that he once played for from 1989-93. I feel a bit honored that i will be in his present once again.

I went to that stadium the first year it was built. It was nice. I don't know what it's like these days though. I would think they were doing well to keep it up! The old park was nice too though... I miss it and the really hot aluminum seats in the summer time.

*random* my husband and I go to a different MLB stadium every year. This year it's Boston. As a Yankee fan, I'm dreading the Red Sox fans, but I'm still excited to see Fenway!
