A New Day Is Here!

01/20/2009

Today is a new day in America and in the world. How fitting for Barack Obama to be sworn in,the day after Martin Luther King’s Day. It seems to me that Obama and Dr. King are cut from the same cloth. They both have similar spiritual qualitiesand an ability to see a bigger picture than most people. They both inspire multitudes. They both understand, live, and work forsomething greater than themselves.

.. ......

Like Dr. King, Obama is an example of how one man can spreadhis influence to do good, despite facing greater societal obstacles. He is making a difference partly by nothaving a big ego. From what I’veobserved in Obama, he is the best example of someone who had an ego-ectomy(removal of the ego). He is just sofocused on problem solving (such as with the economy), on inspiring andempowering everyone to get done what needs to be done, and on other mainfocuses. If you observe him, he neverhad the “I am the man!” attitude. Rather, he has the “I need everyone’s help” or “I need everyone to workwith me” attitude. That was apparent if you’ve watched him give the acceptance speech when he won. He kept a composure of humility and focusedon the things that need to be done and the challenges ahead. He focused on mobilizing everyone.

.. ......

Although I mention Barack Obama and Martin Luther Kingbecause of the holiday and events this week, there are others who also have thesame rare insights and same qualities. They are few, but this group of few are growing. You can find them in different fields. Some current examples in the public eye arePastor Rick Warren, Dr. Wayne Dyer, Jack Canfield, Maryanne Williamson, NelsonMandela, Sergey Brin, Larry Page, and Pierre Omidyar.

.. ......

Obama has been spreading the message of focusing onservice. As you probably already know,he called for a national day of service yesterday. Nowadays, many are working jobs to support their family and theyhave to find some time outside of their job to serve, and that’s fine. However, there are some who consciouslychose a profession where service is inherent in their “job” and that is alsogreat. I want to take this message alittle further. I’ve always taught thatthe key to success, individually and collectively, is by serving many. I’ve written about this in a past diary entry,“Contribute”. (Unfortunately, it's been deleted with the rest when Bloop servers went down. I will re-post later if I can find it in my computer.)

.. ......

Obama along with Oprah and a bunch of other celebrities arecalling for people to make a pledge to service. Although I’ve made a pledge four years ago when God moved me tochange careers and cut out a new path (a less-traveled path that would servemultitudes), I haven’t directly declared that pledge, because most would notunderstand. However, I think now is thetime that I can declare that pledge, as more people are likely to understand. I pledge to help millions of people to obtaintheir desired physical state, mental state, and spiritual state. As more and more people obtain their desiredphysical and spiritual states, more and more people will lose weight in ahealthy way. As more and more obtaintheir desired physical and spiritual states, the overweight and obese epidemicwill decrease and there will be less chronic illnesses such as stroke, diabetes, coronary diseases, and many other diseases that cause disastrouschanges to the lives of many and even prematurely end the lives of many. As more people obtain their desired physicaland spiritual states, they will live happier and higher quality lives byfeeling good and looking good, by decreasing risk of depression, and byimproving physical and mental abilities. It should be clear by now why I am not merely helping people to “loseweight”. That’s covered by my goal ofhelping people achieve their ideal physical and spiritual states, but a lotmore are benefits are also covered. Sothis is my pledge.

.. ......
What’s your pledge? If you think you have a similar purpose and want to join me, feelfree to contact me. Maybe you arecurrently not at the physical and spiritual state you desired, and you want toget yourself in that desired state while helping others in the process. If so, feel free to contact me, because wecan’t do it alone. When you incorporatea greater purpose to help many while helping yourself achieve your physicalgoals, you are much more likely to succeed. Of course you don’t have to have the same purpose and same pledge asme. Everyone has their own individual calling. However, one thing should be the same - your calling has something to do with serving.
