So, I have a friend, Beth. We are not as close of friends as we used to be before I moved to California for ten years (from 1995 to 2004.) When I moved back to New York in 2005, I've never really reconnected with most of my good friends in New York, including her.
With her, there's some strange history between her and me. When we were teenagers back in the day, she hinted through our friends for me to date her. At that time, I didn't think it was a good idea.
I went to college in California. Throughout my college years, I did not go out with anyone. Some may say that I still had her in mind subconsciously. I turned down the beautiful (and aggressive) girls like Lan and Tiffany when I was in college. I also decided not to pursue another very beautiful girl Anita (although Anita's best friend was telling me that I had a very good chance). One of my good friends, Kevin, was telling me that I was crazy in forgoing my chances with Anita.
Back then, some may be speculating that I still had Beth in my heart.
Looking back now, I am clear that Beth and I are not meant to be. She is not the one for me. Also, none of those girls in college were meant for me.
Watching an HK drama just now, I am reminded of Beth and me. It is still clear to me that she is not the one for me, and I am not the one for her.
However, I can't help notice the last gathering briefly before Christmas with a bunch of friends. We all bought gifts and assigned a number to each gift. Everyone is randomly matched with a gift by the number.
I knew that's how it would work and therefore, I arranged my gift to be a test to see who actually reads my stuff on my Facebook account. A month before that gathering, I revealed on my Facebook page that I am a fan of Taylor Swifts music. The gift I bought (intentionally) was Taylor Swift's latest CD. I did that purposely to see if anyone would be able to guess that the gift was from me. Beth was the first one to say outloud that the gift must be from me.
Also, in that same evening, Beth also revealed (not of my design) that she's read about the movies I like. I've never revealed to anyone that I am a fan of Star Wars. That would be the last guess for my friends and family. But I decided to reveal that on Facebook. During dinner that evening with the bunch of friends, the conversation turned to the topic of movies and books. When they started talking about a movie series that I don't really get why people like the series, Beth explained it to me and she said, "It's not that different from the Star Wars."
Now, I must admit that I am impressed and like that she knows and remembers everything I've revealed on my Facebook page. However, I also know with 100% certainty at this point that she is not the one for me and I am not the one for her. God has made that crystal clear to me.
