Currently I have strep throat. It is a bacterial infection of the throat. I've had something like this years ago. Back then, my body was able to fight it off within a few days (which is not surprising since my body is healthier and more fit than most.)
This time however, this strain of bacteria is vicious. I went to the doctor. She confirmed the bacterial infection and gave me antibiotics. It's been a long time since I've taken antibiotics as I try to avoid them unless they're really necessary. This time, it's necessary.
It's day 7 of symptoms and day 3 of antibiotics. It didn't help that I've been working so much. I am going to devote more time and focus to get rid of this thing. I have to engage the body's defenses alongside with the antibiotics to rid this bacteria.
After posting this, I received a private comment which I believe is important for readers to read. I am posting it anonymously below, and my response:
Anonymous Commenter: Please make sure that you treat your strep throat completely. It can be deadly if not treated properly. I was hospitalized for about 2 weeks with a Strep A infection in my blood which caused cellulitis in my leg because my strep throat was not treated completely. I've heard horror stories of people dying and having limbs amputated because of strep infections.
My Response: Thank you for your comment. I'll be sure to finish all the antibiotics even when I am feeling better. (Whenever one takes antibiotics, it is important to finish taking the whole prescribed regimen even if one feels better. Otherwise, the bacteria can come back and come back even stronger.)
Along with following the doctor's orders, I'm also engaging the power of my mind, spirit, and positive emotions to heal - http://stanzo.blogspot.com/2009/08/facing-uncertainties-part-3.html
