I've just seen on Netflix a very good movie based on an international bestselling novel by Marguerite Duras, The Lover. You can find it on Netflix at

As a Christian, I probably shouldn't be seeing and mentioning a film with many sexually explicit scenes. However, the story is really good and quite realistic (although it's of a different time period and location, 1920's in Saigon.) It's a collaboration between French, Chinese, and American filmmakers.
Although this story about a love affair between an adult man and a teenage girl does make you cringe a bit. However, I could totally feel the pain of the guy and the girl, especially at the end of the movie.
I may actually go check out the book. The last time I've read a love story was probably The Notebook published around 1997. But I never saw the movie
The Notebook which came out way after the book.
