Who knew. Al Bundy is a jiu-jitsu expert. Most of you know him as Jay in Modern Family, but he’s known as “Uncle Ed” to two young Gracies (Brazilian Jiujitsu instructors). Who knew. Al Bundy would be the one to help me figure out how to improve this move I've learned from my Chin-na teacher over ten years ago (when I was still practicing martial arts). I've also always known the Jiu-jitsu version of this move. Now, combining what my Chin-na teacher taught me with what Al Bundy said, I believe I have the most effective version of the Americana, or key lock. Well, it’s too bad I can’t test it out in sparring. (I have not practiced martial arts for more than a decade, and I can no longer practice any contact sports - my doctors’ orders.) However, I do run these moves through my head for the purpose of mental exercise (training my spatial intelligence) and in case I ever need to use them. But I hope I never have to use them (partly because that would be of great risk to me.)
Here's the video of Al Bundy with the two young Gracies. I found it absolutely amusing. By the way, don't try any jiu-jitsu or grappling moves from videos without proper supervision. You risk getting really hurt:
