Workshop Full of Homosexual and Transgender Students?

01/04/2011

I am so slow when it comes to some social observations with people.  I just realized another one of my students from a workshop last semester is a lesbian.  In that same workshop, there was another student who is certainly transgender.  There was also another male student in the class who is probably gay (but I am not that certain about him.)

I recall getting a memo last semester in my mailbox informing us of a meeting which discusses how we can help homosexual and transgender students.  All these memories of obscure observations flashed across my head just now (after reading a news feed from one of my students.)

One question now comes to mind.  Was it a coincidence that workshop was probably full of homosexual and transgender students?  If not, was it just that the students who are friends tended to enroll in the same workshop?

This is not important, but it just got my curiosity.

Just people, getting through life with the same feelings of everyone else. Love sad happy etc. They catch colds, learn to drive and go th church. Just another set of humans that want to be recognized as such

Depends on what grade level the students are. If they are freshman or sophomores, chances are they took the class together by accident. If they are juniors or seniors they may already be friends taking the class together.

Empire State, I also observed that they tend to be better students, at least in that one workshop (although this is just my observation of one small workshop, and not a statistically reliable study with a big enough sample size. Simply put, it could be just coincidence.)

Rhapsody, you're probably right. They are first and second year students.
