Is there a doctor in the house?

03/24/2009

They are the enemy.

Okay so a little over a week ago me, my sister and my mom were all outside. It was a beautiful day and we were enjoying it. We went back inside and were just standing around talking when all of a sudden, a spot on my tummy started to burn really bad!! My hand immediately went to the spot and I felt something. So my reaction was to pull up my shirt and hop around. lol [I know, funny image!] I kept telling my sister and my mom that something bit me. But they thought I was crazy because they didn't see anything. Finally, we found this little sweat bee in the floor. My sister killed it and threw it out.

My mom said that it wasn't anything to worry about and that the burning would go away within a few minutes. So I waited almost in tears. After about 10 minutes, my mom made my sister put some alcohol on it. That just made it worse, of course. Then she put some kind of anti-itch cream on it.
Then I started having trouble breathing. So I took a breathing treatment.

It continued to burn an hour after it happened. But I didn't say anything. Then I started feeling really bad. So I just layed down and went to sleep.
I still felt bad though.

And now- a week later... The site of the sting still swells from time to time, and itches really bad. And there's a semi-big spot on my tummy that looks like I've been burnt, right where the bee stung me. And I still feel a little icky.

Sooo.... does anyone know why? My mom said she's never heard of anyone being allergic to a sweat bee. It worries me, but I'd feel stupid going to the ER and telling them a sweat bee stung me a week ago.

Any suggestions?

you could be allergic to bee stings. either that or the stinger is still in the spot where you got stung. I know it sounds kinda sick, but take a bit of tobacco from a cigarette put some water in it, mix it up like a paste and put it on the sting spot. It will draw the stinger out if its still in there. Once that is out, you should start to feel better. If you dont then I would go to the docs and have it looked at.
