Manage My Diary - My Profile

10/18/2020

My Profile

Every diary comes with a profile. It's a space to introduce yourself and let people know about the diarist. When you are on another diariest diary, whether you're on their frontpage or in an entry, you have access to their profile by going to taskbar and clicking on "Profile". You can access your own when you are anywhere on your own diary as well the same way.

When you click "Profile" your profile appears. There are three components to your profile: Photo, Information, and About Me.

Photo - The photo you choose shows here plus on the top banner next to your name on all pages and next to your entries in the "Recent Entries" list on the main page. The photo is 100 x 100 pixels and you can change it anytime you want. We'll go over that later.

Information - Listed here is a link to your diary and your birthday. But you can also provide your email and instant messenger links as well.

About Me - You can write anything you would like here. It's really up to you. Introduce yourself to the community. If you leave it blank, it will say "This user has not provided any information."

Here is an example of what an actual profile looks like:

Setting Up or Changing My Profile

When you go "Manage My Diary" and click on "My Profile" you get the following set of options:

View my profile - allows you to view your profile

Edit my profile - allows you to edit the "About Me" section

Edit my contact details - allows you to enter your email, AOL instant messenger, and other info to appear in "Information"

Add or change photo - add a photo or change an existing one

Remove existing photo - in case you don't want a photo at all

We will skip "View my profile" as I've shown you what a profile looks like already, but let's go over the other options together.

Edit My Profile

When you click on "Edit my profile" you get an edit box that looks like this:

Because BloopDiaryBasics has never had any information on its profile, the photo shows a blank editor. If, let's say, we decided to change the content of what was already there, whatever existing content would appear and be editable.

I went ahead and wrote a little blurb about BloopDiaryBasics:

I like what I wrote so I press "Save" to save it and it appears in the "About Me" section of my profile.

Edit my contact details, Add or change photo, and Removing existing photo

This information goes into the "Information" section of your profile. The editor looks like this:

Your diary name automatically appears in the first box to link to your diary. The three other lines: email, MSN messenger, and AOL messenger are optional lines of information you can provide if you want.

These appear in your "Information" box in your profile.

Clicking "Add or change photo" brings you to upload photo editor. Click "Choose File" and then "Upload" to choose a profile picture. If you no longer want a picture you can just click "Remove existing photo" and the picture you have will be removed.
