Advertisements & Main Page by Team Bloop

Hello Bloopers,

So you may have noticed (if you don't have BloopXtra) that the advertisements are all over the place at the moment. Sometimes a wide ad appears at the top of the page replacing the BloopDiary logo, there is usually one at the end of an entry, and an advertisement at the bottom of the page.

The main page also has a couple of advertisements.

I'm actually testing different positions to see which work best. If we're going to have advertisements on the site, I want to at least make the most out of them. I realise that the positions they are in are somewhat obtrusive, however placing them out of the way doesn't reap any reward because no one notices them - statistics and general research prove this.

If anyone has any good ideas as to where advertisements can go, leave me a comment so I can consider it. Also, it's worth mentioning here that if you subscribe to BloopXtra you'll have an advertisement free experience.

The second column of the main page now rotates its content. I made it do this to give you all a fair taste of what's going on at Bloop. Let me know what you think of it.

lol I noticed the column rotated and figured you were messing with coding. So it doesn't bother me much.

And great news! I should be able to buy xtra for all my diaries now since I got a better job! I don't really *need* it for all of them, but it's nice and I'd like to help you out anyway. Hope it will!

Oh and I hate the ads, hence wanting xtra

i think it's odd but okay lol.

i raised a ticket about when i click on an entry to edit, the page is not recognized.

the only issue I have with the Ads, is often when I am in the forums, the Ads will cut off half of the last posting on a page so I cannot read it and often can barely see which diary left the posting. Other times its covering the "post" button so I cannot post a reply.

the rotate kinds of bugs me, as i already go to those things anyway and i get a bit lost when it moves lol. i know it only takes like 2 seconds to figure out, but it makes me sea sick

Perhaps you can place it just below the google search bar?

I don't have trouble with the advertisements (since I have xtra) but I am having trouble leaving comments on diaries. I type up the comment and click..and this bar appears across the bottom (it's the bar at the bottom of the entry that separates it from the comments, and has the "reader choice/add comment" links on it.)...it shows up across where the comment should be, and my comment doesn't save. It's not all the time..but it's happened several times this week. I've had to comment thru "converse" mode to get them to save. It's frustrating.

^^^ Next time that happens, can you copy me the comment you were going to leave so I can see if it triggered an issue with the script? A few people have had this problem and it's hard to tell why it's happening.

I just had a thought on the ad placement. Other than the fact that it covers the Bloop logo, I think the best place would be at the top of the page. It's RIGHT THERE yet doesn't really interfere with our viewing of the site. You could put it in the top right corner like I think it used to be?

Just a thought.

so...i just wrote an entry (and deleted it about an hour later), and i told it not to accept comments, and when i viewed it, logged in as myself, it said "(no comments accepted)"...but three people were able to leave one. is this a known issue?
