Annual Bloopdiary Pumpkin Carving Contest!

Greetings!

First I would also like to welcome all the new people from OD as well. Along with Bloop's creator Steve, I originally came from OD too. I have worked with Steve for many years to help develop Bloop and add features to the site when I get the time.

With that said... I am very pleased to announce the annual Bloopdiary pumpkin carving contest!


I usually run it from my own diary, but Steve has given me the approval to run it from the Bloopnews diary this time! woot! Thank you Steve!

The rules are simple. Send me pics of your carved pumpkins and I will display them for voting. Very easy eh? Only catch is you MUST send me in a pic of your diary name (written on a piece of paper is fine) near your pumpkin for verification. Sucks to have to do that, but blame the cheaters in the first contest. You may also send in another one without your diary name for the public voting entry if you wish. That is up to you.

You can send your pumpkin images to me via comment, by sending a bloopdiary message, or by email. My email address is bruce@bloopdiary.com if you choose to use email.

Deadline for sending in entries is October 31st at Midnight CST. 

I will then place them in an entry for voting and allow a week for that to run.

The winners will receive six months of Xtra for first place, three months of xtra for second place, and one month of xtra for third place. All winners will also get an @bloopdiary.com email address if they want one.

p.s. To keep it fair, please only send in one entry. You may have multiple images/pumpkins displayed for voting, like if you want to enter two pumpkins for example, but only one winner per placing. Hope that makes any sense. I am tired. lol. For those that might be wondering, I will also be doing the Christmas Tree contest again in December too.

People could still cheat, really - I mean, I could get my neighbour to carve a pumpkin and to hold a pic of my username by it! But at least people won't steal pics from online - unless they're very good at photoshopping!

Dudes. you should totally do a video pumpkin carving contest. Where they send in their videos so they can't cheat. That would be snazzy. Make them include some shots while they were carving it. yessah, sweet. lol.

I might do this - I'm gonna do some pumpkin carving w/ my son this year..(better get started lol)

Curious what the rules are if you use a pattern book, but you carve it yourself...? Is that allowed? I need to know before I send my pic unnecessarily..don't want to be labeled as a cheater, especially since I'm new here. Thanks for the welcome btw..

Carve it however you wish to. When I referred to cheating, I meant there were a few that sent in pics they downloaded from the web. Use patterns if you want to. I would enter the contest myself, but it wouldn't be fair. heh. I am carving a Hannibal Lecter pumpkin myself tomorrow by using a pattern.

Well, since it is obviously yours from visiting your diary, I will allow it for an entry. The only point in the name part was the first time we did this people got pics off the internet of carved pumpkins from obvious sites and claimed them as their own. Good luck to you!

I appreciate that. I mean, I know it's not the BEST carving in the world... but I'm 30 years old and never ever carved a pumpkin before... I ended up having to superglue parts back on that came off...

It did look so much better lit up than it did straight up carved and sitting on my kitchen counter like it is there.
