New Layout

Hi Bloopers,

It's going to be a week of development again. I will be fixing the bugs in the taskbar this week.

In the mean time, you can check out the new layout prototype by clicking the 'New Layout' button on the taskbar. If you want to go back to the old layout, just click the 'New Layout' button again to turn it off.

Question: the border around the content (the black-ish one) is there a way in the CSS to hide that? Doesn't exactly go with my frontpage!

I noticed that when I click "switch" while on the mainpage, it takes me to the switch page, but my name (in the top left, next to my picture) says "Jellyka/stars/"

and right now there's a broken image icon next to my name.

It's definitely a cleaner look...and will take some getting used to, but I rather like it!

This is cool - very nice and clean. =) I am always for customisation, so taskbar css customisation would be beyond amazing (eventually). xD

It's still doing that thing though where the Home, Explore, Comments etc. tabs are overlapping the shadow beneath the taskbar, just so you know! (Chrome)

I really love the new layout. It's very clean looking. I just had one question, is there (or will there be) a way that when you are looking at someone's entry that will bring you to their main page?

I love the new layout, but I have a question- and it could be a stupid one that has an answer glaring me in the face, but- how do I edit an entry once I've published it?

Is there going to be a "log out" button on the taskbar? Or will we have to go to the home page to log out all the time? LOL. Random, but I just noticed that.

If you hover on your profile pic at the top left, a logout link appears. =)

another suggestion for the toolbar, you don't have a link to the forums under the "explore" option. that would be nice to have, i think.

Forums should appear under explore... and faves should be appearing on the toolbar constantly... try refreshing your page, perhaps the scripting hasn't updated

forums still don't show up even after refresh (both clicking refresh and hitting F5). also, when reading someone else's entry, devisualize appears which is fine, but that means that "write" goes away. I have to leave someone's diary in order to get the option to write.

oh, and one more thing. when i'm in the "new layout" i can't click the "submit" button when i'm writing an entry. I don't know if it's because of my screen resolution or what, but the toolbar at the top completely covers the bloop logo and the submit button area.

its not a resolution issue because i use 2 screens at work, set to 2 diff resolutions and it doesn't work on it. but i tried in IE and it worked fine on both. it's because i'm in chrome i guess.

screen shot is in the comment above. wanted to comment, that you'll notice that the bloop toolbar isn't at the tip top of my browser. it's always a 1/2 inch or so below it. (notice my swag bucks toolbar in relation to the bloop toolbar)

Aahhh, I bet it's the swagbucks toolbar that is incompatible with it. Can you try turning that off temporarily to see if it makes any difference? I am going to be adding some code soon that will position the toolbar differently, so that might help.

Is your chrome zoom setting different to 100%?

To check click the spanner icon - and it should be there!

ok, so i see now that it "shows uo" in the explore menu but i can't click it because it's up behind the toolbar. i noticed it while moving my mouse around.

Maybe I just don't see it (and please tell me if I'm dumb and it's right in front of me, lol), but when I'm reading an entry in someone's diary, but want to go to their front page (like where their entry list is)...how do I do that? With the old one, I'd just click frontpage, but I don't see a way to get to it now with the new layout.

BTW, I do love the new look!

Click your profile icon and manage my diary will be on the drop down menu

BTW, when I use this site on my iPad, the taskbar scrolls down and stays in the middle of the page, and is generally very annoying! Not on my laptop - just on my iPad.

Hey! How do we edit entries in the new layout version? I can't find anything.

Right now, you have to click the 'New Layout' button again to switch back to the old layout, click edit entry from there. New functionality will be added this weekend.

Dunno if it's just me and me being stupid, but is there a way to get to ppl's profiles from their most recent entry? I can't seem to find it in the new layout....

There is no difference for me between the old layout and the new layout, except for two wide strips on either side of the "old layout", making it squashed and skinnier - and making everything smaller.
Maybe I'm a bit dumb - I have to press the New Layout tab at the top, right?

Major difference is that middle column is a fixed width, and side menu is gone.

So, the new layout is in reference to removing the side bar and consolidating everything to the top menu.

But there is also a new main page layout at http://www.bloopdiary.com/main2.php

So for now, you'll have to click the 'New Layout' button to switch back to the old layout and add faves from the side menu. I'm working on adding all the options to the taskbar though.

I don't know if it's been mentioned, but there's no longer an edit button for entries on the new layout.
/unless I'm totally not seeing it.
