Come on.... Common Sense PleaseSo they will give me just about $700 in one month for food, but come to find out today they deny me child care. That's wonderful. I called the woman back who denied me but I forgot to leave my number (this is the second time I've called in a row so I would assume she would be able to look up my number in the system or just listen to her other messages). I know she isn't in her office because its almost 8 o'clock at night, but the reasoning that was given for denial was that I am not doing anything worthy of childcare although I am a full-time student. On the voicemail, I asked her if she could explain to me how to go about receiving childcare or how exactly my son may become eligible. I told her that its unfair because I understand that people generally need childcare if and when they are employed, but I asked her how taking a toddler to my interviews would fare for me as far as my future employment goes. I mean, really. And of course now I feel bad for being rude over the phone but you know what? This is ridiculous. She couldn't bother to call me back (I understand she's busy but 5 minutes from her schedule won't kill her) just to explain to me that I got denied, how to go about reapplying and how to become eligible. Clearly nobody who works in social services here in Cleveland has a heart. Luckily I have someone on my side- the woman from the developmental program who comes to help my son. She made several calls until I got my food benefits, and I'm sure she can help me figure out this childcare thing.
