Alive

05/06/2021

I am alive (and so is my puppy).

It seems like ever since I brought Bella home I haven't felt like I've had much time to sit down and write an entry. She's about 7.5 months old now. I waited until she was 6 months to get a shock collar. I tried my hardest, but she needed one. Within a few days she was different. For the most part she just gets the tone or vibrate. Not often does she get shocked. She behaves better than other dogs that have been on them longer. She doesn't leave the yard and comes in the house every time I do (even if I'm just running in to grab something).

I finally got a deck. I hired a guy from Olean. I didn't care for him and he overcharged me. His work was horrible. I'd never recommend him to anyone. I originally had him coming to my house for a covered front porch and also asked him about the deck. I knew the porch would have to wait until the weather gets nicer. After seeing his work I'd never hire him touch my roof. I'm glad he did the deck first. Dad is actually finishing it by putting the spindles, gates and lattice on.

I never heard from Mark again. I'm not going to lie, I was a little disappointed.

Then Nick kind of resurfaced. I guess he's been sober and in recovery for over a year. He even did jail time and lost his license for 5 years. He said we should hang out some time. I told him as friends.

We're still working from home, except I'm only doing 1 day a week. My supervisor told me I had to be in the office 4 days a week, even though everyone else only has to do 2-3 days. Even my own supervisor is only in the office 1 day a week. This whole COVID thing is a bunch of bullshit.

And don't get me started on all the asshole's making more money sitting at home doing nothing than I do going to work. I can't tell you how many jobs are available around here. They need to give money to those that are working and stop giving it to those that don't.

I hate shock collars. I think they're cruel. I read that they can cause certain phobias and high levels of stress on the dog long term. I always used reward-based training with the two dogs I had. More effective and safer IMO.
