I saw today a high-school friends comment about burning the Koran
John - What's the big deal about burning the Koran? Seems the good people in Palestine have always found it acceptable to burn Bibles, crosses, and attack Christians. Ha! I'm not burning any Korans. If somebody wants to burn one, I'll just provide the match.
And my response...
Christianity is not without its skeletons, Salem Witch Trials, The Crusades were both done in the name of Christianity and that is just to name a couple of things (not to mention Hitler). Burning a book does nothing but insight more violence and ignorance. There are extremists in every religion and the hatemongers that go with that are what create the events around such things as 9/11. No book, no writing on a piece of paper has that much power only the twisted mind of men can create such chaos.
Now for those of you who might not be aware, there is a "preacher" here in the US has been saying he is going to sponsor a "National burn the Koran Day" this Saturday.
Now I ask you what will this prove? What will it help? and quite frankly How does it POSTIVELY promote Christianity?
answers nothing, nothing and it does not at all.
What really hurts my feelings is that time and time again people of the Christian faith preach love, forgiveness and tolerance but those in charge seem to find little of it to hand out.
Now this is of course not saying that I myself am anywhere near perfect. Child molesters should die, rapists should be neutered or spayed and so on and so forth. Those however are individual people who do individual things tried and convicted.
You can no more put a faith on trial than you can empty the ocean with a thimble. There are as I stated extremists in any faith that taint the way the faith is portrayed. Dont condemn a book, dont say we will burn yours but you cant burn ours. Really? Matches light the same everywhere but why not use those matches to light hope instead of hatred? |
