 Big News of the Moment
I got an email from my mom, letting my know that my dad was in the hospital. An email. I swear, either one or the both of them will on their death bed before I even know they have the sniffles. *shakes head* Anyway, Dad did a seriously bad twisting of his knee the day after Thanksgiving and got a huge bruise. He still did a fair amount of walking around (when he shouldn't have) and the blood from the bruise settled down his leg. His leg got swollen to the point where he had small, small splits and an infection got introduced. Mom checked him into the hospital and he's been there ever since. Mom says he's doing okay. The docs changed his blood pressure meds which affects his water retainability so he has to pee a lot as a result. They did an echocardiogram and everything checked out. He's got a rash on his back, either from an allergic reaction to some med or because he just was too hot the first night & sweat a lot. They have him on Benadryl for that. I guess everything's going okay. They're just finishing things up. He thinks he'll be able to go home either Friday or Saturday. He's sore walking those first few steps but he won't need a cane once he's out. He tells me not to worry. They live in Arizona. I live in Arkansas. Yeah, THAT'LL happen. *sigh*Renovations at work
So we're renovating the hotel I work at. Oh my gawsh, it looks AWFUL!! It looks like some Technicolor nightmare. Lime and pea greens and dark blues on the carpets in alternating patterns of stripes and then circles & squares. Other carpets have the green stripes with tan/brown leaves & stems weaving through topped off with orange flowers. The curtains are horizontal bands of gold, alternating sheer and not-so-sheer. Woven through the sheer gold parts are horizontal ribbons of gold and green colors. The wallpaper in the public areas (lobby, etc.) is a dark yellow with small orange polka dots. I saw the curtains the other day and just started laughing. I can't wait until this project is done so I can see how (if?) the whole thing comes together.Everything Else
Everything else is going well. For the most part. Shawn and I are still struggling to find time to just BE TOGETHER. To just feel that connection of togetherness, instead of just being in the same house at the same time, each of us doing our own thing. We could seriously use a date night. And gusto. Much with the gusto. TMI AHEAD!!!! Right...NOW!! I could really use some good gusto. I haven't had some good gusto in a long time. Okay, TMI over.
Chris made the Honor Roll at school. Got his name in the paper and everything. Yay for him!!
Shawn and I both have to work Christmas Eve and Christmas. Yeah, it sucks but on the other hand, Shawn didn't have a job last Christmas. We didn't have the money for presents for Chris. We had a lot of problems this time last year that we don't have this year. That's a lot to be thankful for and that's what we're focusing on.
Okay, it's late night/early morning. I need to get to bed. Tomorrow's going to be a long day. Just a couple more days until the weekend... I wish Lorna would take Chris Friday night so I could sleep in. Wishful thinking.
