You seemed to forget
I was made of glass
round, smooth and
prismatic
swirls of opalescent colors
and faerie sparkles
oh so delicate.
But now, marked with the soot
of a candle flame
burned inside for too long
with no escape
tarnished and dirtied.
What was to recognize?
Sitting up there on that high spot
I started towards the edge
to once more capture your attention
And as I saw the precipice getting closer
I wondered if you’d catch me.
Knowing deep that you wouldn’t
At the moment I fell
I saw you turn away.
Because you forgot
I was so beautiful
And as I shattered below
you were reminded
