I think sub-communities could be problematic...like, kicking people out because a mod doesn't like them? Or would it be a more democratic? For that matter...What happens to someone kicked out?

oh i just wanted a mention a bug that i've found. i dunno if it's still there as i have checked since, but you know how you can make reader passwords for non-bloopies? i tried making one, and it worked but it wouldnt submit a comment when i was testing it.... i have my diary on MO but my comments on "everyone" so non-bloopies can comment. any suggestions?

I have to say that I completely disagree with the sub-communities idea. What are we back in high school? This site is clicque-y enough without adding fuel to flame by allowing people to be accepted and kicked out of various communities.

But I do agree with you regarding Dear Anonymous.

I don't really like the idea of subcommunities because I think that would give too many people power and there seem to be a lot of power-hungry people on here. But I completely agree about the Dear Anonymous diary. if you don't like what's in it, dont' read it.

What I like about bloop is that I 'recognize' nearly everyone, even if I am not a regular reader of them. if we create sub communities, there's going to be some isolation from others we don't know as well, who are in other communities. how would we ever get to know them, then? I don't really understand what purpose it would serve.

divisions seem like the last thing the community needs. we may not always get along, but I'd rather keep the whole community atmosphere rather than separate it into various pieces. I would also say I see no reason for more moderators. what we have seems fine, and the more there are, the more problems are created with personal conflicts/decisions.

Unfortunately, I see this "sub community" system as merely another way to introduce the "cliques." If you remember "the fat club" and "the eff you club" and all the drama related to the "SA" and all that nonsense -- it's going to make things worse, more segregated, and less community oriented. I think this idea is really going to increase the drama, especially with the appointment of moderators, which will probably end up being much of the source of drama, additionally.

I also think the sub-communities is an awful idea. We already have that pretty much, but it's not modded. Allowing regular Joe's to kick Bloopers out of communities if they don't like them reverts us back to high school and will only leave people feeling like crap.

If you want to lose Bloop members that don't really fit in anywhere, then by all means create sub-communities. Otherwise, really, it's not a good idea.

I think Bloop is more attractive the way it is now - one larger community, as opposed to a few smaller communities. If anything, drama will be more prevalent in smaller communities, because everyone will know everyone else.

I DON'T REALLY GET THE SUBCOMMUNITIES IDEA, YO. LIKE PEOPLE CAN ALREADY MAKE COMMUNITY DIARIES AND ACCEPT AND KICK OUT WHOMEVER THEY PLEASE - IT IS NOT SOMETHING YOU HAVE TO ORGANISE. I think it would be a bad idea. we all need to learn to just get over it and deal with eachother. I don't like most of the ppl here but the friends I do have count and we shouldnt be divided over communities. the last thing we need is everyone going on a power trip because all of a sudden they think they are important and enforcing stupid ass rules and kick ppl out left & right. while its a cool idea. it spells disaster here at bloop.

would we all still be able to read everyone's diaries outside of our sub-community?

The whole community thing sounds cool but it might get out of had. I cant speak for everyone but i know some people who use bloop for personal reasons, just so they can rant about stuff that people they actually know shouldnt hear or dont care about. If you start moderating what people write it might get kinda hard to say what you are feeling.

Having sub-communities is an interesting idea. I'm not sure if there are enough people on Bloop to make that work effectively though. I'd actually prefer some kind of segregation. We are all so on top of each other anyway - I actually think Bloop would benefit from some ''splitting up,'' but if factions form then that would sort of defeat the purpose.
