As an empty nester I have evolved some rather unique (eccentric?) Christmas traditions. One of the more traditional ones, and one that we adopted when we moved into this house in 2007, is to drive to the community on the other side of the lake and look at Christmas lights. For some reason my neighborhood doesn't decorate like the one across the lake. This year I cut my photography short because there was more traffic than usual but the photographs turned out unusually good.
The Christmas Day traditions are a mixed bag. Many years ago we started a tradition borne of necessity of seeking out a Waffle House around 10am on Christmas Morning. We would stay with the Spousal Unit's parents for the holidays, her family wouldn't gather until 2:30 or 3:00pm for Christmas Dinner and if we didn't eat a good breakfast we would be starving by that time! Then, after we moved here we added the tradition of going to the first showing of a matinee at the movie theater after our breakfast. |
