The Magician

11/03/2010

Happy November Dear Ones!
My Samhain ritual went very well! For many witches and other Pagans, Samhain is a time to do magic that focuses on the spirit world. Divination is one way or holding a seance to speak to the dearly departed. Our circle is more inclined toward divination and fortune telling, so we drew fortunes in the form of tarot cards. I got the magician, and here is an interpretation of what that means

(I snagged the following from www.tarotteachings.com)
The Magician Tarot card meaning deals with the ability to utilize every resource we have available to us. When we think of the Magician, we must understand that there is no question of power. The Magician has absolute power over all circumstances. Simply put, the Magician is in control of his own thoughts, and therefore the ruler of reality.

When we pull the Magician cards for ourselves or for a querent, it is an indication that we have more power than we realize to change our circumstances. It is a card that reminds us of our unlimited potential.

Am I aware of my own power?
Am I recognizing my fullest potential?
Am I playing the role of victim or victor?
Am I using my power for good or abusing it?
Am I connecting to my higher source of energy?
Am I applying myself effectively and beneficially?
What action can I take to move into a better direction?
What resources are available to me, and how do I tap into them?

Good questions I think. Am I aware of my own power? I don't really know, which I suppose answers the question. No, I am not aware of my own power. I have seen glimpses of it, but I tend to chalk it up to a fluke. Maybe I need to become more aware of my power and more accepting of it in order to weild it.

Am I recognizing my fullest potential? No, I don't think I am. Especially if I ignore my own natural power. I know that I have great potential, and I know that I dont use it. As far as being the victim or the victor, I don't think that I play the role of either. In my daily life I strive to just exist. Not a hero, not in need of being saved, just a bystander.

When I do use the power that I have I do try to use it for good. I never work any magic in hopes of hurting anyone, I may not identify as wiccan but I do believe in karma and that what I send out into the universe will come back to me.

Am I connecting to my higher source of energy? Yes, I think that I do connect with a higher energy. I call it the Moon. I do feel very connected to the energy that is all around me though some times more often then others, and not always connected to all of the energies. That is something that I would like to work on, and I do want to become more connected to the moon.

I believe that when I DO apply myself, I am applying myself effectively and beneficially. the problem is that I do not always apply myself to my spiritual work. I do want to, but my motivation is sometimes lacking. I see that I may have to give myself a routine to follow in order to accomplish my spiritual goals. Hey, at least I am aware of it! Which brings me to answer the next question, I think that maybe a spiritual routine would be one action can I take to move into a better direction, I also want to continue to meet with my circle on a weekly basis and maybe start to write my rituals with less assistance and more intuition.

As far as resources that are available to me there really are many. I am blessed that I have a circle to practice with. The pagan community here where I live may be small but its here, and visible. We all take part in the National Pagan Pride Project, and there are many different circles and groups with which to share information. Though admittedly some groups dont see eye to eye, I tend to think that its petty but maybe that's just me. We pagans need to stick together.

I also, obviously have accesss to books and the internet but I use both with caution. A lot of information is available out there and a lot of it is complete garbage. Oftentimes, when it comes to pagan/ new age selections if you have read one book, you have read most of them because its the same information regurgitated with a different cover. Sometimes you really have to dig deep for the good information, but then it's like a treasure hunt and its even more fulfilling when you find the rare gems among the pebbles.

So I guess that this is what I have before me inthe next year, alot of spiritual work in order to find my inner magician and everthing that he stands for. Confidance that I have more power than I realize to change my circumstances & that I have unlimited potential.
