Sadly, not a Bloop one - my apologies to anyone who came here looking for such joy.
No, this was in my guild on WoW.
We're a pretty good guild, I think. Heavy RP with some PvE thrown in from time to time (we do OOC and IC instances). A large core of the 40-odd members we have are people I know in real life, then we've got a few people who know each other in various other places, and it's a really great community feel. We get on fantastically OOC which really helps bring a sense of cohesion.
Last night one of our officers basically threw a strop and quit the guild.
It was largely an IC thing. We have two IC officers - a married couple in the game - and two officers who are largely OOC, including a guy who deals with PvP and yours truly, who deals with recruitment. The couple had a fight - it went badly.
IC she threw in her resignation. From the logs I've seen, her husband was pretty much in the right (husband being guild leader and played by a woman OOC). It got a bit nasty and she stormed off.
Then she actually quit the guild. Without saying a word to any of us.
After a bit of prodding on my part here and there to try and get the straight story, it looks as though she's pretty much thrown a tantrum. She *says* she doesn't want to be an officer OOC if she isn't IC. The other officers and myself are hesitantly not making any of this official, or announced, or set in stone, to give her room to back down if she wants it. I have to say, though, I am rather shocked. It's the kind of behaviour I'd expect from a teenager, not a grown woman.
Not going to be around a lot tomorrow to help deal with it. Argh. |
