An OD member that I have been reading for some time recently, suddenly lost his wife.

Here is a link to his diary. This is the entry of his wifes funeral.

The funeral home has posted her Obituary online. To keep the obituary there permantly it will cost $255. Times are hard for all of us, and there is a place on the site to make a donation to contribute to keeping her obituary online.

Please, Please. Please, do this for this man. he has a good heart, and has suffered many losses recently. Help me give this small gift to him.

Unfortunately, I don't have access to the entry (it says I don't have permission?) and the site for the funeral home won't display properly for me. I see that the funeral home contributed $65 to the cost of turning it into a permanent memorial--how much has the family contributed?

In regard to the earth's age: we calculate that by using carbon dating. the problem with carbon dating is that for it to be accurate, the carbon ratio of c14 to c12 must be the same now as it was then (the time we're dating the item to), the atmospheric carbons must be in equalibrium, I think it's called, according to the guy who founded carbon dating in the first place (Dr. L-something?). now, tests show that our atmosphere is not in equilibrium and differs already in the last few decades. In this guy's own words, it would take a new planet roughly 30,000 years to reach equlibrium of c14:c12. The effect of assuming the earth is millions of years old and has been at equilibrium for as long would be the results that we've gotten: things are millions of years old. But the thing is, it looks as if we haven't even hit equilibrium yet. but, you're right, that truly is neither here nor there.

Do I think bible/Jesus will become myth? No, definitely not. If, after 2000 years, his story is EXACTLY as it was back then, it's not likely it's going to turn into myth. The reaosn those gods became myth, is because they failed their "people." Their people have been defeated and their statues were destroyed, effectively ending any worship to them. Jesus has no graven image that all christians worship as God. statues are imitations of men, and God is no man - and He wants us to keep it that way.
